Game Summary
Cobalt ventured north to Hackett excited for another positive 1 day team effort against NCGCC. Delayed start due to our opposition lacking players, coach, access to the bathrooms (new whiz bang electronic safe) - fresh gratitude for the dedicated organisation and running of MCCCC! We lost the toss, were sent into bowl and were glad to get underway.
Composed bowling with good line, length, variety and reduced extras from all our bowlers kept NCGCC to a low total with 6 of our 11 bowlers securing wickets (Nate, Cameron and Marcus rattlled the stumps) supported by Jonathan, Seth, Lucas (WK) and Vivan nabbing great catches in the field. Kudos to Jash who secured our only maiden over and Lucas, Seb (thank you for helping us out due to injury) and Vivan who had economy rates of 1.5 and below! Special mention to NCGCC's opening batter Uzair who retired 42* and was the backbone of their innings.
Cobalt faced our batting innings with purpose and commitment to show the skills developed throughout the season to chase down the required total showing in quick fashion (many had Marist soccer trials in the afternoon). Exactly what our batters (only 4 required) succesfully achieved! Flynn, Lucas and Cameron all scored multiple, glorious boundaries alongside other well placed classy shots, good calling and running between the wickets.
Player of the match - well deserved to Flynn for his focused batting effort to achieve another great retired not out innings, significantly contributing to our speedy chase down of NCGCC's total in the 13th over.
Inspirational quote - "No cricket team in the world depends on one or two players; the team always plays to win" (Virat Kohli). Coach Jaye's game debrief chat alluded to this - every player in Cobalt contributed in different ways to this classy win! NCGCC did likewise through their sportsmanship and perservance in how they played the game when facing team and organisational challenges on the day.
