It's always fun to play against another Marist team, and Cobalt played Midnight for the second time this season on Sunday in Pearce. Midnight were looking to even the score and more importantly, so were Midnight's Henry twins against their older brother in Cobalt!

 

Cobalt were off to a very promising start with Josh Moody as opener alongside Hamish Henry scoring 30 and 11 runs respectively with both retiring. Josh did particularly well given the wet outfield scoring a massive 5 fours! Patrick Coffey was third in and with solid calling scored 12 runs and had a productive partnership with fellow Fortnite enthusiast Orlando Pabian. Midnight got their breakthrough wicket with Malin Palliya Guruge clean bowling Orlando Pabian on his final ball before retiring! Further down the order, Matthew Graham was on track for a massive total until he was bowled for 12 runs off only 14 balls by Noah Doyle. Cobalt batted til the very end of the 30 over with 3-143.

 

Midnight were up to the challenge with Elijah MacKinnon as opener hitting a quick 10 runs from 10 balls until he was victim to an lbw thanks to George Sanders. The Midnight players were consistent with their scoring, with most players retiring and returning to the crease. Finn Henry and William Costigan the highest scorers. Cobalt's bowling kept the pressure on the batsmen and highlights in the field included a direct hit onto the stumps by Orlando from gulley and a nice catch from Hamish at point! Unfortunately, the app died midway through the second innings and it taught this scorer to always insist that one parent score the old fashiuoned way on paper! It was a close game in the end with Cobalt winning by 22 runs.
