Game Summary. On what felt like an early winters morning, another Marist v Marist match got underway on a cold and wet field in Deakin. Marist Cobalt won the toss and elected to bat, however this seemed like a bad decision with them losing wickets at a regular rate to be 6 down for 54 after only 11 overs following some accurate bowling from Marist Steele. Patrick Coffey and Saxon McVie dug deep, with some quality defensive shots, and keeping the scoreboard slowly ticking over, they managed to bat out the remaining 19 overs with 69* run, last wicket partnership, to reach a respectable and defendable total of 7/123.

With the sun up and the field dried out, the Marist Steele openers, Kalum Palmer and Levi Mahony, seemed relxed and in control with a steady run rate for the first 8 overs, however once the openers retired, the run rate slowed and the Cobalt bowlers tighened things up, collecting some wickets along the way, notably Benji Fearn 1/2, Partick Coffey 1/5, and Orlando Pabian also 1/5 off their 3 overs each. Despite batting out the full 30 overs, Steele could not regain the rate rate required to reach the total.

A game that could have been over very early without the efforts Patrick and Saxon, managed to go the full distance with Cobalt prevailing over Steele in a good spirited, all Marist affair.
