Marist Navy Secures T20 Grand Final spot!
In a thrilling showdown between Marist Navy and Marist Light, Navy delivered a commanding all-round performance in bowling, batting and fielding. Winning the toss, Navy opted to bowl first, a decision that paid dividends as their disciplined attack pressured Marist Light, to just 63 runs.
The bowling attack fired from the outset, with William Holl making an early breakthrough, giving away only 3 runs for his wicket. Wilson Moufarrige maintained the pressure with tight bowling, finishing with 1/8. Ned Snashall was precise, taking 2 wickets for just 9 runs, while Aarav Gorle (2/7) ensured that wickets continued to tumble. Kemith Orawatte then delivered a sensational spell, taking 2 wickets in just three balls. Fielding was equally sharp, with catches from Holl, Moufarrige, Snashall, and two impressive takes by Gorle highlighting Navy’s energy and precision in the field.
With the target set at 64, Marist Navy approached the chase with confidence. Rupert Reid led the way with an impressive 21*, retiring not out. Solid contributions from Gorle (7), Stefanic (7), Moufarrige (6). As wickets fell, Orawatte (7*) and Holl (8*) came together to steady the innings, forming a resilient partnership – both players finishing not out as Navy sealed the win with plenty of wickets in hand.
This victory cements Marist Navy’s place in the T20 Grand Final on Tuesday, 4 March. With their bowling attack in top form and batting lineup showing great depth, the team carries strong momentum into the final match and poised for a thrilling battle to lift the trophy.
