Willow Talk #13 - Week Ending 16 February

Stage 2 - Division 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (197) defeated Radford (107) by 89 runs

Marist Royal lost the toss and were sent in to bat at O'Connor 203. Smeds and Harrison were looking great out there, smashing plenty of early boundaries. Next in was Efrem who cashed in on the loose deliveries which helped him and Jack set up the game for the middle order. Riley and Uvi were out there together pushing the scoring along and building a really strong team total. The game was now set up for Ollie, Darcy, Macca, Xavier and Lofty who all batted with intent and moved the game forward. Marist ended up posting 196 and started solidly aside from a couple early 4s but Macca was on fire yet again, taking the first scalp for Marist Royal. A drop catch turned into a run out for Marist Royal after some great awareness from Xavier to throw the ball into to Darcy at the bowler's end. Wickets kept tumbling from there as Jack's magic leggies were doing the job for Marist. Riley and Efrem bowled very tightly, attacking the stumps on a great line and length. 4 wickets needed after the break Riley was very clever with his captaincy choices which caused more dot balls and problems for the Radford boys. Smeds bowled very tightly as Harrison picked up a wicket and Macca was back at it to really close the game for Marist Royal. Uvi bowled very tightly picking up a wicket to leave Marist with just 1 wicket to win. Lofty came back on to bowl and it was a good thing he did because he bowled a peach to remove Radford's last batter. A great win for Marist Royal, more specifically batting, fielding and encouragement from the lads today was excellent.
