What a final game of cricket to end the season! It was a Friday night thriller that went down to the wire!
Wests White Lions batted first after winning the toss, and after 10 overs they were 60 runs; Marist Aqua was impressive in the second 20 and heavily restricted their total; Westss posted a competitive 6/96 in 20 overs. The Marist Aqua bowlers toiled hard, Eric Tunningley, Joseph Mason, Ryan Nammuni Dewage, and Moksh Shah all chipping in with crucial wickets to keep the target within reach. It took all yea,r but our extras were our lowest all year with 16 (6 wides, 5 no balls) to cap of a fantastic final bowling performance (with 5 first year players).
Chasing 97 for victory, Marist Aqua got off to a nervy start, losing our most consistent batsman, Sourav Karthik Nair, early. Marist wickets fell at regular intervals Moksh Shah put in an impressive effort to support Joey and Eric, it came down to Marist needing 14 of 12 deliveries with Joey Mason (34 not out of 50 delivers) and Eric Tunningley (18 not out of 3deliversrs) - to Wests credit they bowled well restricting a desperate Joey and Eric in the final over.
An absolute nail-biter, and a game that had everything – boundaries, wickets, drama, and a tense finish! Cricket at its best!
A thank you to all the parents for the incredible support - the coaches could not have done it without your efforts.
