Willow Talk #12 - week ending 15th February

STAGE 2 MATCH SUMMARY

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (8/183) defeated YDCC Mavericks (8/146)

In probably our best win of the season, the Royals defeated the ladder-leading Mavericks, who had been undefeated in the season to date. The win can be attributed to valuable contributions from the whole team, with bat, ball and in the field.

Angad played an incredible all-round game today with 58* and 3/26, setting up our innings for a competitive total. Will (20 runs, 1/15) and Jobe (21 runs, 2/6) dug us out of a hole during our batting innings with a great and mature partnership, then teamed up with the ball to take 3 wickets in 3 overs to turn the game in our favour. Harvey (17) played some great shots, including a beautifully-timed straight six, while Dimitri (15) was also looking solid. With Chip (1/5) and Dimitri (1/13) taking the other wickets, one of the best things abuot the game was the great catching and committed fielding. Dimitri took an absolute screamer to re-energise the team, while Harvey, Ned S and Hunter all took difficult chances, which was the difference today. Ned M was also really impressive behind the stumps.

Best of all the boys had fun - encouraging and supporting each other, and always believing that they could win.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky defeated Wests 7/110 to 107

Marist Sky defeated Wests 7/110 to 107- Flyn Carolan(25*)& Rupert Reid(22*) had a good partnership and made the team win. what a performance from the team.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (7/224) def Wests (6/78) (DLS)

The team played very well again today against a strong opponent, posting their highest score of the season after a rocky start losing 2 wickets in 2 balls. Congratulations to Dimitri on another 50 (including smashing the hat trick ball for six), along with excellent contributions from Ned (who is fast becoming our Mr Consistent), Chip, Tom and Will. The boys played some truly lovely shots all around the ground, showing patience, precision and power with the bat.

An excellent two-wicket first over from Harvey set the tone for our bowling. Aaarv, filling in for the team this week, made an important contribution with two wickets, while it was great to see Chip pick up a wicket after bowling well without reward of late. The fielding standards set today were also high - a run-out, great catches, determined chases and stops on the boundary and all-round encouragement.

Finally, while the game finished early due to rain (thanks to Jen for the scoring assistance to turn on the DLS) it was delightful to see the boys enjoying themselves with the other team in the clubrooms by playng some impromptu dressing-room cricket while we tried to wait out the weather.

Stage 2 Div 1

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (8/175) def Wests (6/155)

Under stormy skies Marist Royal locked in for a tough battle against top of the ladder Wests. It was a rocky start, losing two quick wickets to some excellent bowling. Up to the crease stepped Dimitri to continue his excellent form from the previous week. Dimitri smashed 72 runs off 31 balls, showing excellent timing and seriously impressive strength. He was ably supported by Ned, Chip, Harry and Tom to reach a team total of 175 runs.

Our bowling was consistent and tight, frustrating the Wests team. Combined with watchful fielding, we built pressure even without getting regular wickets. Everyone contributed to the bowling load, including Jobe (0/2) and Harvey (1/7) off two overs, and Hunter (0/17) and Will (1/18) off four overs. The hard work and positive attitude finally paid off, with Angad (2/9) knocking over the Wests’ best batter and the win going to the Royals.

A hard fought win against a quality opponent, building confidence for the rest of the season. The team is looking forward to our first T20 game on Tuesday.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky (131) defeated by WCMCC U13 Mixed Stage 2 Div1 Gold (5/131)

Started off when Western Creek won the toss and elected to bowl first. We were sent out to bat and we’re setting a total. Openers, Rupert and Cam, got us off to a good start, with Cam getting one boundary and a solid 10 runs but  unfortunately got out. On the other hand, Rupert got a strong 18 runs with two boundaries and set us up for a very good innings, with Rupert retiring.

Then Arjun came in and showed everyone what he can do, with Arjun getting 31 off 30 to retire with four boundaries. He put us in a solid position after a few batsmen. Flynn came in and he stopped the wicket falling, with himself getting just 11 runs off 30 balls, but I’ll tell you it helped the boys stop the wickets falling, and Araav had a blinder with 25 off 26 that gave us a total of 131.

And just before the end of innings, Rupert, Flynn and Arjun all came back in. So the boys went into bowl with the mindset don’t worry about our score, and Flynn took an early wicket in the first two overs with the caught and bowled. And just four overs later, Clyde finds a nick over a key bat and it goes right to Charlie as the keeper, and after that the boys continued to put effort in.

And then Rupert came in to bowl and found at least three misses, and two of the nicks were caught behind, but after that the boys couldn’t find any more wickets until after the drinks break, when it was getting crucial with the storm looking to come. The boys hurried up and Charlie came in with his spin and bowled high and loopy, which caused a wicket on a batsman who was about to retire.

Unfortunately, the boys did not get the result they wanted, but they kept fighting and they never gave up.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (6/187) defeated by YDCC Spartans (8/194)

Another close game for Royal this week, with some great performances in a disappointing loss.

After electing to field first to avoid the worst of the heat, Royal got away to a slow start. A great direct hit runout from Ned M helped get us back in the game, followed by Harvey bowling out the Spartans strongest batter. Further wickets to Will (2 and a runout), Angad, Tom and Chip saw YDCC bowled out for 194.

A big score was always going to be a tricky chase, but we gave it our best shot, especially Angad (46) and Chip (45) who set us a solid platform, along with key contributions from Tom, Ned S and Ned M. Unfortunately we ran out of time to reach the total, but the boys tried right until the very end.

T20 Tuesday 3 February 2026

Marist Royal (2/107) defeated Eastlake Eagles (5/103)

A solid return to T20 cricket for Marist Royal. Angad took a wicket first ball and didn't concede a run off his bowling, with wickets to Jobe, Chip, Ned M and Dimitri to round out the innings. Clean power hitting from Hunter, Chip and Ned M followed in our batting innings, with Ned S reliably ticking the score along to comfortably get us home. Well done boys!

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (7/163) defeated WCMCC Gold (8/114)

Impressive performance from the boys to earn the win against ladder-leading WCMCC Gold. The team came under pressure in both innings, but dug deep and worked together to rise to the challenge.

A notable batting partnership from Hunter (38) and Angad (36*) displayed some really sensible batting to wrest back momentum and help us to a competitive score, along with valuable contributions from Chip, Will, Harvey and Harry.

Early wickets from Will and Harvey put WCMCC Gold under pressure, aided by great fielding - Harry's diving catch was especially spectacular. While WCMCC Gold steadied the ship and appeared to be closing in comfortably on the target, a wicket from Tom broke the key partnership and the Royals rallied to finish the game off with wickets to Dimitri, Ned, Jobe and Will (who finished with 3/7 to back up 4/5 on Tuesday night).

A solid team contribution, and importantly we held our catches. Well done boys!

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (3/195) defeated Marist Sky (8/122)

After a bye in Week One, Marist Royal were keen to play their season opener against Marist Sky. Under cool conditions, Royal won the toss and elected to bat.

Angad and Chip got the team away to a great start, with each batter hitting a six. The next batting pair of Tom and Hunter continued in the same vein by playing some stylish shots with watchful running between wickets, helping Hunter reach the teams top score of 33 not out. Dimitri, Ned and Will kept consistently adding to the growing score with some cracking fours and sneaky singles. Jobe made his debut for Marist with an impressive 18 not out off only 14 balls. Unfortunately Harvey and Harry didn’t get a chance to bat, with most of the Royals retiring not out. We look forward to seeing them in action with the bat next week.

Buoyed by their excellent batting performance, the boys were eager to take to the field to defend their total. On the last ball of the first over Will got his first dismissal of the season by clean bowling one of the Sky openers, with Angad clean bowling the other opener in the next over. Hunter, Dimitri and Ned each chipped in with wickets against Sky’s tenacious batting. Angad took the last wicket of the day, finishing with our best figures of 3/13.

Overall an excellent team performance from the Royals - the batters kept the score ticking along throughout our innings without too many risky shots, followed by tight bowling, high energy and lots of encouragement in the field.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (6/191) defeated Eastlake Eagles (8/75)

Under sunny skies, Royal won the toss and elected to bat. The Royals innings got away to a shaky start with our first wicket falling in the first over thanks to some fast and on target bowling. Dimitri and Angad got the team back on track, with Dimitri playing an explosive innings. He scored scoring 29 runs off only 16 balls including 4 fours and 1 six. Angad contributed another excellent innings, ending on 54 not out (6 fours, 2 sixes). Ned, Harry and Harvey all played important and risk-free innings to help the team set a target of 191 for Eastlakes to chase.

The Royals bowling was consistent, accurate and difficult to play. The Eastlakes wickets were shared across the team, with seven players taking a wicket. Harry was the bowler of the day, finishing with 2/8. Our fielding was once again solid, with the boys continuing to support and encourage each other throughout the game. Eastlakes providing lots of catching practice, with Chip taking two catches at slip.

A great team performance from the Marist Royal!

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky 161 defeated by YDCC 162

Marist Sky 161 defeated by YDCC 162

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royals defeated by Radford Ospreys

After winning the toss and sending Radford in to bat, the Royals got off to a great start with Will taking a wicket on the fourth ball of the innings with a sweet catch taken by Ned. While our bowling was tight, the Radford batters were watchful taking advantage of the few loose balls. It wasn’t until the 13th over when Ned featured again by taking the wicket of Radford’s strongest batsman on ball 29 with Harry taking the catch as wicket keeper.

In the 18th over Tom took his first wicket with a great catch taken by Hunter. In the following over Will took a screamer, diving to his right to take a catch off Harry’s bowling. A great run out by Harry, and then Will followed up his catch with another in the 24th over off Hunter’s bowling. In the 29th over, Tom cleaned up the tail with two more wickets, finishing with figures of 3/4. Radford finished with a very reachable total of 150.

The Royals batting got off to a good start with what looked like a solid partnership between Ned and Angad. Unfortunately, we came up against some very sharp bowling from Radford with one bowler taking 5 wickets. We suffered a batting collapse, losing 3 wickets in the 11th over, leaving Ned to anchor the batting to the end.

We'll learn from this game and work to bounce back next week!

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (6/217) defeated CGS Navy (8/185)

Another great team performance to finish the first half of the season.

Congratulations to Will and Chip for scoring 50s with some clean power hitting to get the team score to a whopping 217, ably supported by Ned with an elegant 44 not out. The boys made good use of the fields downhill slope!

CGS Navy attacked the total with gusto, steadily chipping away at the target without losing many wickets. The Royals rallied after the drinks break with great efforts with the ball and in the field, including some impressive catches and committed boundary fielding. In particular, Tom and Chip came on and dried up the runs, then picked up key wickets to turn the game back in our favour, with Harry also picking up 2 wickets in his last game for the team. An impressive win from a team growing in confidence and maturity.

The team bid a sad farewell to Harry, an excellent young cricketer who has made a great contribution to the team across all aspects of the game. We also farewell and thank Jen and Mike for the umpiring, scoring and snacks, and for the huge amount of work that Jen has put into her coordination role for Marist cricket. Our loss is definitely Brisbane’s gain

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (6-162) defeated TJVCC Ravens (8/79)

After being sent into bat under cool and cloudy skies,  the Royals worked as a team to build a solid total of 162. The incredibly slow outfield made our running between wickets critical for a reaching a good total, with the boys making clear and sensible calls to keep the total growing. Ned, Hunter, Jobe, Chip, Will, Harry and Tom all contributed runs, with Harry top scoring for the day on 23 not out. Also ending the innings not out were Ned, Will and Tom.

Yet again our bowling was excellent, with consistent lines and lengths creating pressure throughout the Ravens innings.  Harvey, Hunter, Angad, Dimitri, Jobe and Harry all took wickets. Hunter and Harry both took 2/4 off 2 overs to be the bowlers of the day.

Another great team effort against the Ravens, setting the team up well for our next Tuesday game against Marist Sky.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Royal

Marist Royal (3/258) defeated TVJCC Ravens (5/140)

A long game, but a good one for the Royals. After winning the toss and opting to bat, quite a few of the players got amongst the runs. Ned M picked up where he left off on Tuesday to hit 48* (making it 90 not out for the week), Dimitri found form with an impressive 51*, and there were great contributions from Hunter (17), Angad (25*), Tom (32*), and Ned S (22*) to get us to 258 for the innings, our highest score for the season.

Chip put on the keeping gloves for the first time, but looked like he's been keeping for years (some great takes down leg side), and our fielding standards were great again, especially in the heat. Wickets to Harvey (1/12), Ned M (1/10), Ned S (1/13), Tom (1/12) and Jobe (1/10) ensured Tuggeranong didn't get anywhere near our total despite some resilient batting.

A great win by the team!

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky 129 defeated Norths, NCGCC 50

Batting: Aarav Gorle 24, Flynn Carolan 17 and Charlie Johnston 11*(not out).

Bowling: Rupert Reid 2/1, Flynn Carolan 1/1 and Bill Smedley 1/9.

It was a beautiful spring morning at Deakin Oval for Marists Sky’s first game of the 2025/26 cricket season.

Marist Sky won the toss and captain Clyde elected to bat first. Openers Rupert and Flynn got off to a great start on a very quick pitch with both finding the boundary on a couple of occasions. Rupert unfortunately was bowled in the third over which saw Bill join Flynn at the crease. Bill batted well before being caught in the field by a good catch from the opposition. Aaryan was next in and he and Flynn chipped away adding runs to the score before Flynn was bowled on his last ball. Aarav joined Aaryan and these two formed a good partnership adding more runs to the board, with Aarav hitting four 4’s, the most of the game. Another good catch by the opposition saw Aaryan dismissed with Cameron coming out the centre. Cameron and Aarav continued to add runs to the board before both were caught in the field one over apart. Our tailer enders Archie and Charlie did well to push the score above 100 with Marist Sky all out for 129 in the 21st over.

As the weather started to warm up, the boys headed out into the field. Rupert opened the bowling with good pace and found the first wicket on his fourth ball of the first over with a great caught and bowled. Rupert also picked up the next wicket which fell in the third over in the same fashion. All the boys bowled well, keeping the extras to a bare minimum and the fielding nice and tight. Captain Clyde was also a great wicket keeper. Fylnn also took a wicket with a beautiful fast paced ball clean bowling the batsman’s and Bill produced a runout off his own bowling. The last wicket fell in the 15th over the same way Sky’s fielding started – with a caught and bowled by Bill.

It was great to be back on the cricket pitch and we all played really well supporting and encouraging each other. If this game is anything to go by, Marist Sky is in for a great season of cricket.

Marist Sky won 8/129 to 5/50.

Stage 2 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky defeated TVJCC Ravens

Marist Sky defeted TVJCC with great performances from Arjun Patil 48*(27 ) and Chalie Jhonston 27*(20). Arjun, Clyde and Bill took 2 wickets each

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Navy

Marist Navy (8/159) defeated GJCC Black (8/121)

Batting: Will Costigan 43, Cholan Tharmarajah 23*

Bowling: Will Costigan (3/9), Emmett Posener (2/18)

Player of the match: Emmett Posener

On a cool morning in Charnwood, the smell of winter sport was in the air. But AFL and soccer would have to wait because today was Navy's chance to make the semi finals.

Overnight rain and a steady morning drizzle left the outfield sluggish, and GJCC made the sensible decision at the toss to bowl first.

Navy’s openers strode out with intent. The first three overs went to plan, yielding close to 20 runs. But cricket can turn quickly and in the fourth over, a sharp piece of fielding produced a run out, despite Kalum's sprinting efforts.

Will held firm, working through partnerships with Isaac and then Noah before reaching his 30-ball retirement in the 12th over. At 2/62, Navy were building nicely. However, wickets in the 14th and 16th overs slowed progress and left the innings delicately poised.

Cholan provided much-needed composure, batting steadily to reach his retirement and push for a competitive total. While the tail couldn’t quite add late runs, Emmett played a valuable supporting role, ensuring Will - returning after retirement - faced as many deliveries as possible in the closing stages, before a powerful pull shot which looked destined for the fence instead stuck safely in a GJCC fielder’s hands, bringing the innings to a close at 159.

It was a defendable total and the message to the boys was clear. With the new ball in hand, Navy burst out of the blocks. Emmett struck twice in the opening exchanges, Kemith chimed in with another, and after three overs GJCC were under genuine pressure. Energy was high and belief even higher.

But a season’s experience has taught this group that momentum in cricket is fragile. The fourth wicket didn’t arrive until the 10th over, and patience was required.

Enter Will’s newly discovered spin which brought wickets five, six and seven, keeping GJCC behind the required rate. The final wicket, however, refused to fall. GJCC battled on, steady but never quite threatening.

Fittingly, it was Will who ended it. A moment of brilliance from barely two feet inside the boundary. A direct hit sealed the win in style.

Unfortunately, results elsewhere meant Navy fell just short of a semi-final berth. Still, this was a performance to be proud of.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Blue

Marist Blue (8/135) defeated by Marist Light(6/136)

It was a scorching hot day in Wanniassa, where Marist Blue took on Marist light on a Saturday morning. The Captains Sam and Flynn won the toss and chose to bat. Marist Light claimed early wickets, but Sam and Finley responded with steady scoring. They got a partnership of 60 and Sam scoring 38* not out and Finley scoring a classy 26 setting our score from 4 – 45 to 5 – 102. Yash scored a fine knock of 22 of 24 hitting 4 boundaries. Marist Blue scored a nice 135. In the first over, Finley got a yorker delivery and got an early wicket after 3 balls. After recovering from an injury, Paddy got his first wicket where Yash took an amazing catch, next wicket was a great catch by Flynn where he stood his ground when the ball blasted straight to him. Will got a great 2 wickets for 8 runs and Darcy bowled an amazing ball to get his wicket. Wickets started to fall quick until the 7th wicket partnership where Marist Light put up a good fight and won the game Overall the team performed really well as a cohesive unit and it was an absolute pleasure to be apart of such a great group of boys. Honourable mention To Nirodha for being the game day coach and the excellent job he did.

Signed off by Samadhi Pathmaperuma.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Blue

Marist Blue (6/96) defeated GJCC-Black (8/95)

It was a cold start to the morning in Charnwood.

Paddy and Yash won the toss for Marist Blue and decided to bowl.

Ben opened the bowling with some good form, with only 3 off the first over. In the 3rd over Ben claimed the first wicket with a great run out. Then Shariq bowled a great ball that hit the top of off-stump, just like we were told to do in training.

The next few overs they kept scoring and we just couldn't get them out, until......... Sam! He took a great catch that went over the bowler's head at the speed of a rocket and he grabbed it cleanly out of the air. Then Yash bowled their next batter and it went straight through the guy's stumps. We were on a team hat trick, but could we pull it off?.... No.

We had them all out for 95.

Paddy and Sam came out to open and got off to a steady start before Sam got pulled off for metal spikes and Mitch had to replace him.

Paddy made 15; Sam was unbeaten on 35 and the rest of the team finished it off in 16 overs with some solid batting.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Navy

Marist Navy defeated Ginninderra DLS target of 67 in 10.1 overs

Bowling: Isaac Swan (2/6), Cholan Tharmarajah (1/7), Emmett Posener (1/7)

Batting: Isaac Swan 29*, Lachlan Poole 10*

Player of the match: Lachlan Poole

Marist Navy opened the match with the ball and delivered a disciplined performance on a slow wicket. Tight bowling and sharp fielding – including two excellent team run outs – kept Ginninderra to a modest 6/103 from their 30 overs.

Rain briefly halted Marist’s chase after six overs, forcing a DLS adjustment that set a revised target of 67. Once play resumed, Marist needed only four more overs to complete the job. Isaac Swan led the charge with a commanding 29*, striking five classy boundaries, while Lachlan Poole offered steady support with 10*.

Marist Navy set the tone with the bat, posting a competitive 7/129 on an excellent wicket. Contributions came widely across the order, with six players registering valuable runs. Isaac Swanimpressed again a great total and a big 6!

With a solid total on the board, Marist carried the momentum into the bowling innings. Kalum Palmerdelivered the turning point, claiming two wickets in an over that opened the door for the final wickets.Radford Bazas were all out for 74, the last wicket falling in the 18th over.

A tidy and confident win for Marist Navy.

Bowling: Noah Doyle 2/3, Emmett Posener 2/8, Evander Jose 2/13.

Batting: Kalum Palmer 14*, Will Costigan 8*

Player of the Match: Will Costigan

A great team performance to start the season!

After a scorching start with the ball, Marist S2 Navy bowled their opponents out for just 50 in the 20th over. Special mention to Noah Doyle who broke a bail with an absolute jaffa!

Having spent the week focused on fielding, the team showed what they'd been working on - chasing down potential boundaries and taking some sharp catches.

With a slow outfield to contend with, the boys had to earn their runs - and did just that, reaching the target in the 12th over. Well done to Will Costigan and Cholan Tharmarajah who both managed to find the boundary in tough conditions.

A lovely morning out at the cricket - bring on the rest of the season!

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Blue

Marist Blue (8-136) defeated by Queanbeyan Navy (6-137)

The Marist Blue fell just short of defending their 136 run target with only 3 balls remaining in the match. Despite the result, this was a really positive first game for the season with many of the boys new to the Stage 2 format.

Samadhi P and Darcy C opened for the season and were firing from the first ball. Sam played out the innings with a solid 25 not out. Two big sixes saw Darcy top score with 26 before being caught. Other top scorers were Will S on 22.

In the field, the boys were outstanding. Despite being a new team, the constructive talk, backing up and all round support for each other highlighted how much potential this team has. Finley C finished his 5 overs with 2 wickets and restricting the opposition to just 10 runs. Other wicket takers were Patrick O and Mitchell H. Catches to Will S, Sam P and Darcy C rewarded some very tidy bowling.

Well done to Queanbeyan who played a very patient game. And well done to the boys for showing such a positive start to the year.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Navy

Marist Navy (7/161) defeated by Marist Light (8/204)

Bowling: Ajmer Singh (3/12), Will Costigan (1 r/o, 1 stumping)

Batting: Noah Doyle 51*, Will Costigan 25, Lachlan Poole 24*

Player of the match: Ajmer Singh

A fitting Marist derby before the summer break, played with great character. We knew it was going to be a tough day, with Marist Light’s recent performances marking them as strong title contenders.

Navy won the toss and elected to field, hoping to take early wickets on a lively surface. The Light openers came out firing, putting on quick runs at the top. A sharp run-out from Kalum Palmer in the sixth over gave Navy some much-needed momentum, and the remaining seven wickets were taken steadily from there, with the final wicket falling on the first ball of the 30th over.

A highlight with the ball came from Ajmer Singh, a late call-up who filled in superbly and finished with three important wickets.

Navy then faced a challenging chase after Light posted an imposing total of 204. After a nervous start, the middle order rallied and began to build steady partnerships. Congratulations to Noah Doyle on another fine half-century, well supported by Will Costigan (25) and Lachie Poole (24*).

Unfortunately, this was not Navy’s day. While Marist Light struggled to find that stubborn eighth wicket, Navy fell short of the total, finishing on 161.

Marist Navy can head into the season break with their heads held high after some superb performances in the opening part of the season.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Navy

Marist Navy (5/173) defeated WCMCC Heat (6/172)

Bowling: Isaac Swan (1/4), Lachie Poole (1/8)

Batting: Lachie Poole 37*, Will Costigan 31

Player of the match: Lachie Poole

With only a few weeks remaining until finals, Marist Navy produced a gutsy and well-earned win in testing conditions.

WCMCC won the toss and elected to bat, getting off to a flying start that put early pressure on our bowlers. The Navy boys dug in, kept the chat positive, and were rewarded when Kemith made the crucial breakthrough. From there the wickets came steadily, with contributions across the board. Six bowlers shared the wickets, and while WCMCC weren’t dismissed, the run rate was significantly slowed in the second 15 overs.

At the end of 30 overs, Marist Navy were set a challenging target of 173 in the heat.

Openers Will and Kalum laid the perfect foundation with a composed 50-run partnership, setting the tone for the chase. Isaac, Noah, and Cholan all chipped in with handy contributions, while Lachie anchored the innings superbly, top scoring with 37. Valuable runs from the tail ensured the momentum never slipped.

Marist Navy crossed the line with eight balls to spare, sealing a strong team performance. A highly enjoyable game of cricket, played in great spirit, and a timely confidence boost as finals approach.

T20

Marist Navy (1/87) defeated GJCC Yellow (6/85)

Bowling: Lachie Poole (1/2), Kemith Orawatte (1/9), Divij Shah (1/9)

Batting: Will Costigan 27*, Isaac Swan 22*

Player of the match: Kalum Palmer

A dominant T20 performance from Marist, with the batters well and truly in command.

Marist bowled first and after taking some early wickets, GJCC settled and batted out the full 20 overs, posting a total of 85.

Marist came out swinging in reply, timing the ball beautifully and finding the boundary with ease.

The target was chased down in the 13th over in another excellent all-round team performance.

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Navy

Marist Navy (2/106) defeated ANU Iron (8/102)

Bowling: Evander Jose 2/5, Noah Doyle 2/10, Kalum Palmer 2/15

Batting: Kalum Palmer 32*, Cholan Tharmarajah 27*

Player of the match: Kalum Palmer

Marist started strongly with the ball, reducing ANU to 6/50 in the first 15 overs. A resilient partnership from ANU then forced Marist to stay patient, with the final two wickets eventually falling in the 24th and 30th overs.

It was an excellent team bowling performance, highlighted by conceding only 15 extras, a new team record. Kalum, Evander and Noah each claimed two wickets.

Chasing a modest target, Marist remained composed. Taking full advantage of a quick outfield, they reached the required 103 late in the 14th over. Congratulations to both Kalum and Cholan, who each struck five boundaries.

Another battle of the titans, With finals looming and after Dominating Vipers in T20 on Tuesday by 50 runs, Light faced a much hungrier opponent in Wests on Saturday, handing Light only their second defeat all year. After losing the toss and being sent iin to bowl, Marist was on top early with Will Frost taking two quick wickets, one caught behind with a great catch by Noah and Steve 1 wicket smashing into the stumps in the opening pair spell. Lights bowling by our openers was fantastic, only betted by Wests quick singles and smart batting as the next wicket didn't fall until the 20th over until Ernest broke through with a sensational ball, knowcking over the castle finally. Wilson broke through with another catch by Noah. Vivaan's bowling was straight and tight, finally being rewarded hitting the stumps in the 24th over until Steve got a run out in the last over with Wests outstanding between the wickets getting to a total of 169 to give us plenty to work on for finals.

Marist lights batting openers in Christian and Arjun were outstanding, scoring at 10 runs an over. Both batters were unlucky not to retire, but putting on 62 runs in a little over 6 overs, both falling in consecutive balls in the 8th over getting Light off to a great start. Steve and Wilson came to the crease and Steve continued where he left off on Tuesday hitting a quick fire 23 off 13 balls, before Wilson was unlucky popping one up caught, before Steve was caught 2 overs later.

Noah came to the crease determined to get Light over the line hitting 16 off 18, but watched a collapse around him losing the remaining 4 wickets quickly sealing the game for Wests.

It's going to be an exciting finals series with Light almost certainly facing Wests again in the 1 Day semis with this loss happenning at the right time keeping us in the hunt. But making the T20 Grand Final as minor premiers, was certainly the highlight of the week, cementing a final against Ginninderra next Tuesday. Well done boys, we're so proud of you.

fielding was the highlight along with great wicket keeping by Leo.

Casing a large total and loosing 3 batsman on a duck was never going to be easy. Christian Rego unbeaten 23* and Ernest 21* demonstrated their continued form from last game. Steve Loukadellis brought about the first six of the season a clean crisp hit.

However good bowling from WMCC Sixers and our casual short selection let us down.

Love a good Marist derby, and today didn't dissapoint. There was great chatter, blue war paint and pressure cricket on a scorcher of a day out at Wanniassa. Marist Blue won the toss and elected to bat and after a couple of early wickets via amazing bowling by WIll and Christian we managed to keep Blue's dangerious batters to low scores, Light managed to keep the run rate down on a slow outfield before an amazing cool runout by Christian and Sourav at the bowlers end took a crucial wicket. With the wind picking up the ball was moving around and Darcy who looked dangerous early was bowled by an amazing delivery from Wilson drifting it in to hit the stumps..

From there Blue's tail wagged like an excited rottweiler with Finley (26 off 20) and Samadhi (38 off 41) putting on great runs before Christian managed to sneak one through to hit the stumps thanks to a great in swinger. Amazing high pressure cricket by both teams.

Leo and Steve taking valuable wickets in the wind with some great swinging deliveries finally bowling Blue out for 135.

Light's innings started shakily with Finley bowling a pearler to dismiss the dangerous Christian in the first over. Arjun and Wilson dug in to put on 40 runs, before Wilson who cracked a low and hard pull shot was caught by Patrick at deep square leg who didn't look like letting anything through all day. Great fielding and a tough amazing catch. Amazing Arjun again retired not out on a great score of 26 playing fantastic intelligent shots.

Leo was looking solid before having to retire and leave early and Blue capitalised with some amazing fielding and great bowling before another mature innings by Ernest (17 off 15) and Saurav (10 off 26) again put the cool heads on and got the runs with just over 5 overs remaining. Marist cricket is looking very strong. Great cricket by both teams. Well done boys.

Marist Blue

Marist Blue (8/130) defeated by Marist Navy (3/177)

It was a sunny day in Deakin with patches of rain. Marist Blue vs Marist Navy, Marist Blue bowled first. Great bowling by the boys and great batting by Navy. Blue got a couple of wickets including Finley, Ben and Charles. Some great fielding from the boys including lots of accurate throws from Ben.

Great keeping from Mitch and Darcy, also from Sam putting his body on the line to stop the ball. Charles had great talk in the field. Will, great efforts at trying to catch the ball, Shourik, some great chases to the ball. Yash, also great at not letting the ball past him.

After the 30 overs it was now time for Blue to bat. Openers were Darcy and Sam with some great shots from Darcy including 3x 4’s and one six, hitting a total 22 runs. Some really great bowling and fielding from Navy. When Ben went in to bat he got hit in his back and came off for some treatment, but still wanted to go back in and made us proud with his batting performance, hitting 21 runs. Also some amazing batting action from Mitch and Shourik with facing their 30 balls. Mitch hitting an awesome 29 runs. A great game played, just unlucky for Marist Blue with an ending score of 130 runs to 177 runs with Navy winning the match.

It was a beautiful day at Curtin for a cricket match. Marist Blue vs Eastlake Gryphons, the captains Mitch and Will won the toss and chose to bowl first. The boys started with some great bowling especially from Mitch 2/11 (3) Sam 1/11 (3) and Will 1/16 (3). Shourik had some great efforts in the field but couldn't quite get the catch he was hoping for. However Ben did manage to get a great catch in the field and when Sam was bowling he took a cracker of a catch when the ball fired back at him and he held on! They went in to bat and Darcy, Sam and Yash all managed to retire. There was great batting all around but Yash with 24 runs and Sam with 37 runs really stand out. with 8 runs left to get the last batters Darcy and Yash went for a run and unfortunately got run out. Although the boys lost they still had a great time and everyone tried really hard. Signed by Mitch

A cracking day for cricket in Yarralumla, with Lake Burley Griffin as the backdrop. Marist Navy lost the toss and were sent in to bat.

Our top order delivered a composed start, building steadily towards our highest total of the season, passing 200 for the first time. Will and Noah both finished unbeaten on 43, with Noah launching three towering sixes in a standout innings.

At the end of 30 overs we felt confident, but cautious. Grammar had topped 200 more than once this season, Navy knew there’d be no cruising home.

Grammar began strongly, reaching 54 before Evander struck with Navy’s first successful LBW of the season (after plenty of enthusiastic appeals in earlier weeks!). Three quick wickets followed and Navy were in control at 5–98.

The drinks break revived Grammar, who pushed to a threatening 144 before Will produced a spectacular run out to break the stand. Cholan and Issac then claimed the final two wickets in the dying overs, wrapping things up just as the senior cricketers arrived to reclaim the pitch.

Navy seem determined to take every game down to the wire. Thrilling for the crowd, slightly less so for Coach Jarrod. Well done, boys.

Marist Blue 6-180 defeated Western Creek Stage 2 Div 2 Heat 7-121

It was the first game back after the holidays, and everyone was pumped for a game of cricket. We lost the toss and the other team chose to bowl first. Our first batters went in ready to have some fun. The weather was edging towards 40, but that didn't stop our batters, who got amazing scores. With Darcy Coyle leading the pack with an extraordinary 50(38). Other top scorers were Finley Chares 18 (15) and Mitch Howard 15 (23). The boys finished batting with their highest batting score this seaon 180, confident that they could field well and stop the other team's batters. As the boys went into bowl and field they were excited to get some wickets. The fielding was great with Sam taking a catch and Finley taking two. The bowling was no different with great scores of Flynn Walters 2/9 (2), Shourik Gollapalli 1/8 (2) and Mitch Howared 1/9 (2). In the end the boys came out on top and had a great time. Thanks also to the parents for the extra ice provided on the scorching hot day.

This one was a close one! A real bowler’s day out. We knew we were up against it facing the toughest bowling attack in the comp and we felt it early as Marist Navy lost a few quick wickets and slipped to 4/17. Ever-reliable Will Costigan smacked some fast runs before Cholan Tharmarajah and super-sub Saxon Owens-McVie steadied the ship and guided Marist to a respectable 131, all out in the 25th.

When it was our turn with the ball, the wickets came steadily and we cruised to 7/81. But a stubborn tail had the tension rising almost as quickly as the temperature, before Divij Shah sealed the deal with a superb caught-and-bowled late in the 23rd. Strong bowling performances all round, with Cholan grabbing 3 and Saxon and Divij each pocketing a pair.

A day when hope never wavered, the boys stuck together, and Marist came away with a well-earned, hard-fought win.

After losing the toss ANU decided on a bat on a bouncy wicket and fast outfield. ANU found it hard to score before Will F brought down the castle for the first wicket of the day. The next pair batted well and looked like building a solid partnership before Vivaan threw down the stumps again, out in the deep for an amazing runout.

ANU batted well until the 19th over until Steve Loukadellis became back on and took two quick wickets to dismiss ANU's very handy batters. ANU dug In to make it to 30 overs with Christian and Ernest taking wickets Before ANU set us a total of 123.

Light openers Arjun and Christian were like batters possessed getting us off to a flying start averaging 10 runs per over, before Arjun was caught in the 7th . Christian played agressively and maturely dominating the ANU attack with some amazing strokes, making boundaries look easy.

Wilson came in and again at the top order and put on a beautiful batting display hitting a quick fire 17 off 15. Stevie is back!! After Christian's amazing 42 off 30 balls with 9 boundaries, Steve Loukadellis came to the crease on a mission after returning from injury, smashing 30 off 15 with 4 boundaries and a sensational 6,

with Steve and Wilson finishing off the 123 run chase in a little over 12 overs.

The boys are really peaking towards the pointy end of the season, with a knockout T20 game on Tuesday against one of the other undefeated T20 team Wests to qualify for the T20 final.

Lets go Light!! You have done us all so proud this year. Let's finish the season off in style. You've got this.

MATCH DETAILS

Marist delivered a complete team performance—disciplined bowling, sharp fielding, and composed batting—to secure a commanding victory over a strong Ginninderra side. A professional and impressive display across all departments.

Marist’s bowlers laid the foundation for the victory by restricting Ginninderra to just 85 runs on an extremely fast outfield. The disciplined lengths and relentless pressure ensured Ginninderra never settled.

The fielding unit was nothing short of outstanding, playing a major role in keeping the opposition to a low total.

The collective effort made singles nearly impossible and consistently applied pressure on every ball.

Marist’s chase began with early pressure as Ginninderra’s strong opening bowlers claimed three quick wickets. But the middle order showed maturity and calmness:

One of the decisive factors in the win was Marist’s exceptional running between wickets—quick singles, sharp backing uup, and constant pressure on the field kept the scoreboard moving and the opposition frustrated.

The intensity and application Marist Light have displayed in all departments is now cementing in the stats over the last few games. Go Marist Light!!

Facing an always formidable opponent in St Eddie's at Pearce, Marist won the toss and elected to bat. After losing 2 early wickets, Wilson and Leo dug in and scored freely in a solid middle order stance. Noah and Steve came in quite closely and forged a devastating partnership of 114 with Steve unloading on the Eddie's attack and sending balls into the front yards of local Pearce residents clearing the ropes for a massive 5 Sixes and 7 fours hitting 73 off only 33 balls. Joined at the other end by Noah with 8 boundaries hitting 41 off 38 both boys retiring. Will and Vivaan coming in and hitting valuable runs getting the total to 228.

Light then came in and showed why we are one of the fiercest team in the comp with amazing bowling and sharp, pressure fielding, keeping Eddie's to a mere 81 off 19 overs before rain stopped play Forcing a DLS result.

As the ground began to dry, Eddie’s came in to bat. An early breakthrough from Emmett Posener gave Marist some hope, but wickets proved hard to come by as the Eddie’s batters settled in. A strong batting display followed, featuring some well-timed big shots.

Two Marist fielders took painful blows to the ankles but showed great courage to play on. Despite some tidy spells from our spin bowlers, Eddie’s proved too strong on the day.

The match was played in great spirit, with plenty of good will and sportsmanship shown between both sides.

The first T20 of the season was hotly anticipated, and the boys rose to the occasion with a strong performance, claiming a reduced-overs win against Queanbeyan as fading light brought the match to an early close.

A lively outfield meant runs were on offer, and several Marist batters took full advantage - highlighted by a big six from Noah Doyle.

In the field, the team worked cohesively to create pressure, leading to two smart run outs for Divij Shah.

Marist Blue

Marist Blue (113) defeated Ginninderra Tigers (110)

On a cool and cloudy morning, Marist Blue and Ginninderra Tigers met at Marist for a round 8 clash. The captains Will and Darcy won the toss and chose to bowl first. The bowling performance by the whole team was outstanding with Ben, Finley, Yash and Sam all taking a wicket each. In the field, Yash and Mitch both took great catches and Mitch, Sam, Will and Darcy all showed their impressive arm strength and accuracy with some exciting runouts.

When Marist went into bat, our two openers started very well with Darcy top-scoring with 23 off 30 and Shourik unfortunately needing to retire after being hit in the hand. A great example of good sportsmanship came in the second innings when a Ginninderra player was injured and Charles put his hand up to fill the space in the field for them. Mitch had a great innings with the bat scoring 15 off 15 including three fours. In the last few overs with 6 runs to get, Ben and Finley finished the job and got Marist ahead of the target. A big thanks to Rachel for stepping in and coaching us on Saturday.

A tough day out of the office for Marist Navy against a top-of-the-table and in-form Weston Creek side.

Creek won the toss and elected to bat, immediately applying pressure. While nothing went dramatically wrong for Navy, nothing quite clicked either. Weston Creek built steadily and had almost 100 on the board before Kalum Palmer broke through with a lovely piece of bowling to claim our first wicket. Despite disciplined efforts in the field, wickets proved hard to come by, with only two more falling as Creek posted a competitive 182.

At the change of innings, there was still belief. It was a chaseable total, if partnerships could form and momentum could swing our way.

Our openers walked out ready to take on the challenge, but Creek struck early with a wicket in the opening over. From there, wickets fell steadily, and runs were difficult to find against some exceptionally sharp fielding and tidy bowling.

A highlight for Navy was another composed innings from Noah Doyle, who continued his strong form with a well-made 34, including six crisp boundaries, before retiring at the 30-ball limit.

With the eighth wicket falling in the 16th over, it wasn’t the morning Navy had hoped for. But there’s plenty to take from coming up against a high-quality opposition. Head up, Navy, we go again!

Bowling: Evander Jose (1/12), Noah Doyle with 3 catches

Batting: Will Costigan 35*, Noah Doyle 28*

Player of the match: Kemith Orawatte

A thrilling T20 contest with just about everything, big hitting, sharp bowling and a finish that had everyone holding their breath.

Marist batted first and it was one of those days where the runs flowed, the boundaries came freely and we recorded a record number of retirees along the way. Marist finished the 20 overs at an impressive 3/136.

With that score on the board, the energy carried into the field. The bowlers were sharp, the fielders even sharper, and wickets came at regular intervals. At 5/76, Marist were firmly in control. But T20 cricket has a habit of keeping things interesting. Eastlake rallied late, building momentum through the closing overs. Despite Marist's pressure the final breakthrough proved elusive. Eastlake edged past the total with just two balls remaining in a genuine edge-of-your-seat finish.

After a foggy start in Googong, both the sun and the cricket came out in full force! Spectators were treated to a cracker of a match.

Marist won the toss and elected to bowl. A quick outfield helped Queanbeyan post some early runs, but the boys tightened up beautifully - sharp fielding and a fired-up bowling attack swung the momentum our way, with the eighth wicket falling in the 26th over.

Queanbeyan’s quicks celebrated early when Marist’s chase began, but an heroic near half century from wicketkeeper Will Costigan turned the tide. Supported brilliantly by Isaac Swan and Evander Jose, Marist chased down the total with just six balls to spare.

A huge team effort where belief never wavered. Well done, boys!

After losing the toss and being sent into bat, Light started absolutely clinically with Arjun and Christian both solid through the opening overs against a fierce Eastlake opening line up and both retiring reaching their 30 balls setting Light up for a great innings in the heat. From there, even with notable batters out being Steve and Ernest the boys played like they finished off last year, smashing boundary after boundary, taking it to Eastlake with ease, with smart running, great calling and notable knocks from Noah (40) and Wilson (53) both also retiring undefeated. Arjun and Christian, then came back in and worked out it was much better hitting boundaries, than running in the heat, both finishing on 56 and 41 respectively with 18 off the last over against Eastlake's opening bowler.

Our bowling and fielding started strong with Steve taking a wicket in the first over toppling the top of off stump, and the wickets tumbled constantly after that thanks to Leo & Wilson dimissing 3 out of the top 5 batters in the comp for a combined total of 9 runs. Noah was a real challenge to face and was unlucky not to get a scalp after some tough catches were grassed. Light really picked up from last year and were electric in the field, making runs difficult and some great runouts by Leo, Noah, Christian and Vivaan who kept very cool heads under pressure. Will F stood up as fill in keeper along with Leo who both did amazing with the gloves in hot conditions.

Eastlake's tail were difficult to dismiss as the heat started rising, before Arjun and Will F finished the job keeping the run chase under 100 giving Light a healthy percentage boost in the lead up to finals. Huge thanks to Will O'Brien (Wobby) for filling in for us again, and huge offort from parents who constantly ran drinks, and kept the boys cool and hydrated under the gazebo's all game.

Great effort boys. So proud of you.

Bowling: Will Costigan 2/24, Issac Swan 1/4

Batting: Will Costigan 41*, Isaac Swan 34*

Player of the match: Cholan Tharmarajah

In a terrific display of sportsmanship and team spirit, Marist Navy took on Marist Blue in an entertaining intra-school clash.

Marist Navy batted first and put together a solid total, with contributions right through the order. It was great to see several players showing confidence and retiring after reaching their 30-ball limits — a reflection of disciplined and positive batting. Rain threatened to interrupt the match, but the players pressed on with focus and energy.

Chasing 178, Marist Blue faced a determined bowling attack. The highlight of the innings came immediately, with Will Costigan striking on the very first ball to set the tone. While the bowling effort was at times inconsistent, with a few too many extras, the boys showed resilience and teamwork to keep the pressure on. Their persistence paid off, as they wrapped up the final wicket in the 25th over to secure a strong team performance.

A great contest all round, played in the right spirit, with plenty of positives for both sides moving forward.

Team ML – Kicking Off the Winning Ways with a Low-Scoring Grinder!

Marist Light (ML) began their Stage 2, Division 2, 2025 season in true fighting style — with a gritty, low-scoring thriller that tested every nerve and showcased real team spirit. Nothing beats the feeling of digging deep to get your side over the line!

Vikings won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a modest total of 93 for 8 in just over 23 overs. ML’s bowlers were relentless, with Steve Loukadells leading the charge with brilliant figures of 3 for 10, well supported by Noah Johnston’s tight spell and disciplined bowling from the rest of the attack.

Chasing under cloudy skies, ML started confidently thanks to solid top-order contributions from Christian Rego and Saurav Nair. However, some exceptional bowling from the Vikings triggered a dramatic middle-order collapse, setting up a tense finish.

The Nail-Biter!

With only 18 runs needed and the last pair at the crease, Ernest Morrison dug deep, crafting a match-winning 15 not out, while Vivaan Khanna provided calm support at the other end. Together, they guided ML to victory — with nearly half the overs still in hand!

Coach Rob later confessed his heart rate “reached the moon” during those final overs!

A fantastic display of character, discipline, and teamwork, highlighted by low extras, sharp wicket-keeping, and smart fielding. A great platform to build on — and plenty of momentum for the season ahead!

Stage 2 Div 2

Marist Blue

Marist 7/154 lost to SEC 4/159

We arrived at Gowrie oval. There was a bit of dew on the oval. We hoped to win the toss but didn't.

Eddie's sent us in to bat first. Batting was alright. Yash filled in for us and was our stand out batsman's of the day. We played really well and scored really good points just not quite enough to secure the win this week. Special mention to Ben and Finley, both getting a maiden. Finley also delivered 2 wickets, was a great bowling performacne.

The Eddie's batsman were very good. We had a couple of the Eddie’s boys retire and then at the end Eddie just got us with a couple fours and bit of lazy fielding from us. Big shoutout to Saxon for filling in too, who retired 15 not out. Bring on next week.

Light are finals bound in both the T20 and One Day games wIth a top of the Table T20 Final locked in on Tuesday. After a defeat the weekend before, Marist Light bounced back with a vengance posting our highest score for the year on an extremely slow outfield. The boys showed patience, sensational running and agression when needed with the bat, and terrific bowling and hunger in the field making runs difficult frustrating Radford.

Light lost the toss and were sent into bat with Arjun and Christian going to work as openers, who were patient and clinical, before Christian popped one up in the 4th over on a pitch that was slow and dull so timing was difficult to navigate. WIlson came in to bat and he and Arjun hit valuable runs including some sensational boundaries before Arjun was beaten by a heavily moving ball in the 9th.

Steve was in next, who really doesn't care much for a slow outfield, was unbelieveable who hit boundary after boundary, on virtually every second ball hitting 12 boundaries and 2 sixes in his 30 balls finishing on 60 before retiring. It didn't matter where Radford put fielders.

Noah and Wilson were victims of the slower pitch early on, when Ernest came in after Steve's retirement and Will Frost joined him put on a sensational partnership hitting 26 & 28 respectively without losing their wickets.

Saurav was in next who was equally as excellent, and was so damaging hitting 22 off 17 also retiring. Luckily for Radford, Steve came back in after Vivaan was dismissed for only the last 3 balls of the match but still added 10 runs including a six off the last ball of the match with him finishing with 70 (33) Not out.

Light's Bowling was just as deadly, with Will hitting the stumps with his first ball of the match. Great catches as well by Noah behind the stumps, Ernest with one of the catches of the year off a hard, low flying pull shot, And Christian as well and great run out combinations by Christian, Vivaan, Sourav and Wilson, all who didn't panic, and took the bails off when it mattered.

Light's pressure in the field and sensational bowling only 2W and 3B all game), made it extremely difficult to score runs, keeping singles to a minimum with only 2 of Radford's batters making double figures, with Arjun taking the last wicket in the 13th over against a very good side.

Marist Navy (8/172) defeated by Eastlake Gryphons (5/173)

Bowling: Divij Shah (3/13), Kemith Orawatte (1/7)

Batting: Noah Doyle 50, Will Costigan 30

Player of the match: Divij Shah

It was a fantastic contest on Saturday. Marist’s openers were met by some brilliant bowling, and we found ourselves in a tricky spot at 3/12. Then the partnership between Noah Doyle and Will Costigan steadied the ship. With valuable contributions from Lachie Poole, Evander Jose and Kalum Palmer, Marist finished with a solid 172 and our first 50 of the season, well done Noah!

An early breakthrough, with a superb run-out from Will Costigan in the second over, gave us some much-needed energy. But Eastlake’s batters proved challenging, and they made us work hard for every wicket. Eastlake had posted 137 before a brilliant spell from Divij Shah and Kemith Orawatte that saw four quick wickets gave Marist a fighting chance. Despite their efforts, Eastlake chased down the total in the 27th over to claim the win.

A highly competitive and enjoyable game of cricket.

Marist Navy

Marist Navy (6/115) defeated Radford Bazas (7/114)

Bowling: Emmett Posener (2/8), Evander Jose (1/6)

Batting: Noah Doyle 38*, Yash Reddy Karnati 27

Players of the match: Yash, Emmett and Noah

First game back after the summer holidays and it was an absolute scorcher, with Marist Navy hosting Radford in Hughes for what proved to be a tense but rewarding outing.

Navy won the toss and elected to field, making an immediate impact with the ball. The early pressure paid off as Radford found themselves on the ropes at 3/19, thanks to some disciplined bowling. Radford were able to steady the ship through the middle overs, but in the oppressive heat runs were hard to come by. The fourth wicket didn’t fall until the 22nd over, before wickets five and six followed in quick succession, a standout being a screamer of a run-out from Cholan. Radford finished strongly at the death to post a respectable 114 from their 30 overs.

The chase began with nerves jangling as Radford struck twice in the opening over to raise tensions early. Fill-in Yash, alongside Lachie, showed great composure to calm the air, putting on a vital partnership of nearly 30. Noah then began to put real pressure on the run rate before an injury forced him to take a brief spell off the field. Credit to his teammates, who held things steady in his absence and kept the chase on track. Noah returned to finish the job in the 18th over, securing the run chase and a well-earned victory for Navy.

A pleasing result in tough conditions, and one that makes Marist Navy’s hopes of pushing on to the semi-finals all the more real.

Under hot conditions again Marist lost the toss and were sent into bat. Christian and Wilson got got the innings off extremely well, both retiring at 30 balls faced, setting light up again for another great innings. Runs were extremely difficult as Curtin's outfield was extre slow, so running between the wickets, and sneaking singles was key,

Arjun again, came out firing whacking 29 off 25 agonisingly close to his 30 balls. Vivaan was another solid batter, getting to 30 balls, and was a pest to the bowlers, who didn't go close to taking his wicket and solidly digging in.

Will F came in at no 8, and was superb, hitting .a very handy 25 runs before retiring with some delighful shots of his hip and hitting the bowlers all over the ground.

Light's bowlers started beautifully, With Ernest taking 3 of his 4 wickets off his first two overs and finishing with 4 for the match. Lights pressure fielding also keeping Gininderra batters at bay on a slow outfield. Ernest was everywhere also taking a sensational catch off Christian's first over. He was extremely unlucky not to get his 5th scalp, Sourav also taking an amazing catch.

Christian and Arjun then paired up to finish the innings off with a cool, panic free runout for the last wicket. Big thanks to Saxon who filled in for Light this week as well, who seemed tvery at home in graded cricket and was extremely economical with 1/3 off 3 overs. and was undefeated after 11 balls & very solid with the bat. Well done Saxon.

Marist Midnight S2 (all out for 57) defeated by WCMCC U13 Green (119)

Bowling: Yash Reddy 3-12 off 3 overs

Batting: Xander Heffernan 10* (not out)

In just their second game together S2 Midnight had a tough match in cold conditions on Sunday morning. The odds weren't in our favour this week starting the game a player down, we lost another to illness 30 minutes into the match.

Bowling first they made an early breakthrough in the opening over, however struggled to capitalise from there. A few missed wicket taking opportunities, dropped catches, overthrows and misfields costing them. Yash Reddy Karnati was a stand out with 3 wickets and an excellent catch.

WCMCC posted a total of 119, a seemingly achievable target for Marist having posted a very respectable 143 the previous week. Our openers got off to a great start seeing out the new ball however a string of wickets, including 3 run-outs didn't help our boys. The team put up a great fight but were beaten by the better team on the day. Plenty to work on at training this week and already looking forward to the match at Bungendore in Round 3.

Marist Cobalt (4/100) defeated BAS Hawks (8/98)

Batting: Alex Moore 51*, Saxon Owens-McVie 13*

Bolwing: Ari Richardson: 3 overs, 2 wickets, 6 runs

Summary:

This week, Marist Cobalt travelled to Gungahlin to take on the BAS Hawks on their home turf.

The Hawks began steadily, helped along by a couple of early chances that slipped through the fingers—literally. But the boys bounced back with some sharp fielding, snatching two slick run outs to swing momentum back our way. Despite tight bowling throughout the innings, the Hawks managed to bat out their full 30 overs. Ari delivered a cracking final over, taking two wickets, one of which featured a lightning-fast stumping from Henry that would make any keeper proud. The team held the home side to a modest 99 runs—a solid effort in blustery conditions.

The chase began with a few ambitious swings seemingly aimed at knocking Starlink satellites out of orbit. With the wind swirling and the Hawks bowling tightly, Marist found themselves wobbling at 4/20 in the 7th over. Enter Saxon and Alex, who calmly steadied the ship.

Whatever was in Alex’s water bottle at the drinks break deserves a patent—he exploded out of the blocks, smashing 17 runs in a single over, including four boundaries! He brought up his 50 in style with another four in the 18th over, and Saxon sealed the win with a cool single just a few balls later.

All in all, a thoroughly entertaining match and a comfortable win for the Marist boys—plenty to smile about and a few highlights for the season reel.

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (3/150) defeated BAS Falcons (6/49)

Marist Aqua took on a slight disorganised Burgmann Anglican School (BAS Falcons) side on Friday the 21st for Round 6, with a delayed start after Aqua kindly waited for BAS team members to arrive. In freezing conditions at Deakin, captain Vincent Imbriano won the toss and elected to bat. A steady opening partnership between Rami Moore and Edmund Dziedzic capitalised on a stream of no-balls and wides. Josh Rolands added to the total before an outstanding 51-run stand from Lawrence Friesen and Daniel Trinca, both retiring not out. A sharp delivery from Burgmann removed Vincent for a golden duck, but Aqua finished strongly with valuable late runs from Fredrick Friesen and Julian Baseby to post an impressive 3/150.

After a short break, Aqua’s bowlers settled quickly into rhythm. Chayan Mehta, Julian Baseby, and Vincent opened steadily before Fredrick delivered a brilliant caught-and-bowled in the 7th over. Confident and precise wicketkeeping from Ryan Nammuni Dewage supported the bowlers’ momentum, and Vincent struck again in the 8th. With Edmund taking over the gloves, he worked seamlessly with Lawrence, who claimed another wicket, before Edmund’s quick thinking secured a sharp stumping. Consistent bowling from Josh, Rami, and a confident Chayan—who delivered another clean-bowled wicket—kept Burgmann under pressure. Lawrence sealed the match with a late wicket, restricting Burgmann to 6/49.

Saxon, Lachlan and Jarvis all accrued impressive totals, but William led the pack with a total of 40 runs off 20 balls. All of the team did very well with the bat, and communication between the pairs on the pitch was consistently good. The run total was the highest achieved by Indigo thus far in the season.

Slate had a big total to chase. The second innings started slow, with Indigo not able to get any wickets early on whilst Slate was equally unable to secure many runs. After six uneventful overs, William went to town with 3 wickets in the seventh over. LJ continued the carnage with two more wickets in the eighth over. Some batter miscommunications enabled Saxon to claim a run-out in the eleventh, and Cooper made a great catch off a Jarvis ball in the seventeenth. LJ rounded out the innings with a run-out off Benjamin’s ball in the eighteenth over. Indigo had secured a dominant victory over Slate, and everyone was keen to head off for a warm dinner!

Despite the quality of the bowling, the opposition held firm and we couldn’t snag any early wickets. Pressure built, and after a few overs a chance popped up just past Cooper. He chased hard and got a hand to it, but the catch slipped away. A few overs later another ball was lofted over Cooper's head, he made a leap but it narrowly escaped his reach again.

The breakthrough finally came in the 8th over when Ben delivered an absolute beauty, creating the chance we needed and the catch was safely taken. That wicket lifted the team’s energy instantly. Momentum continued Indigo's way when Will stepped up in the 10th over and cleaned up the stumps with a brilliant delivery. Just two overs later, he struck again with another powerful bowl to take another wicket. In the 15th over, Saxon joined the party with a great ball of his own, adding another wicket to the tally.

The next over brought more excitement as LJ moved out from wicketkeeper duties to bowling and struck immediately in his second over, taking a wicket with a very good effort. By the 18th over, the fielding effort continued to shine. Cooper bowled, the batter hit it towards Will, and he sprinted to it and fired a perfect throw back to Cooper, who knocked the stumps over with a clean hit to complete a sharp run-out.to complete the innings.

In the second innings, chasing a modest total, Nihal and LJ opened our innings with confidence and control. They ran well, defended smartly, and kept the scoreboard ticking. LJ was the first to retire on a well made 11 runs , followed shortly after by Nihal, who retired on 12 runs.

Ben was next in and settled in nicely. Jarvis joined him at the crease, and with the target within reach, the pair worked well together, running sharply between wickets.

In the 8th over, with the scores level and one run needed, Jarvis took matters into his own hands. He smashed a boundary to finish the game in style and ending up on an impressive 16 runs off 9 balls, while Ben contributed a steady 3 runs from 4 balls.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (8/97) defeated by Wests S2 Wild Wests

It feels most appropraite that this week I channel my Lady Whistledown penmanship in writing the Marist Aqua cricket report; it just feels appropriate....

Dearest gentle reader,

On Friday the 12th of December, at the ever-watchful grounds of Kaleen, Marist Aqua found themselves in the most spirited company of the Wests S2 Wild Wests—a side quite content to match Aqua’s pace, talent, and daring stroke for stroke. Aqua were grateful to welcome Daniel Duffy from Stage 1, who stepped up superbly and, alongside Tom Ferrari, got the innings off to a flying start. Daniel top-scored for the evening with an impressive 26 runs off 20 balls, while Tom added a valuable 14, both retiring not out and striking three boundaries each. Rami Moore was next in but was unfortunately bowled, before a new partnership began with Julian Baseby and Vincent Imbriano. Sharp Wests fielding then saw Vincent and Edmund Dziedzic dismissed for ducks in quick succession. Daniel Trinca steadied the innings with Julian before being run out, and despite some fluent batting from Julian, Ryan Nammuni Dewage, Chayan Mehta and a returning Daniel Duffy, Aqua experienced an unusually high number of dismissals, with Chayan bowled at the end of the 17th over.

Yet hope, dear reader, is never so easily extinguished. Aqua returned to the field with bowling that spoke of resolve and quiet determination. Aqua set about defending their total with disciplined bowling. Ryan Nammuni Dewage and Chayan Mehta bowled tightly early to slow Wests’ scoring, before Daniel Trinca claimed a sensational wicket to spark momentum for Aqua. Consistent bowling followed from Edmund Dziedzic, Rami Moore and Vincent Imbriano, with Julian Baseby taking a sharp catch in the 10th over. Despite injuries to both Daniel Trinca and Edmund—who bravely continued—Aqua maintained their effort, with Julian and Tom Ferrari combining well and another wicket falling in the 13th over. Daniel Duffy and Chayan rounded out a strong bowling performance, but in a closely contested match it was Wests who ultimately managed to outpace Aqua by the end of the evening.

One suspects this is the only time these two sides shall cross paths—and should they do meet again, this author will most certainly be watching.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (4/82) defeated by GJCC Himalayan Tigers (5/84)

Marist Aqua played GJCC Himalayan Tigers at Latham oval on Friday 13th....and Friday 13th it was for the Aqua boys. The afternoon started off mild with Aqua’s captain Julian Baseby winning the toss and electing to bat. An opening partnership between Edmund Dziedzic and Julian provided a slow and steady start but unfortunately the Tigers strong fielding put Aqua on edge early with Julian being caught out. Chayan Mehta quickly replaced the captain and steadied the innings, but with plenty of dot balls, the runs were kept low. Chayan retired not out before Ryan Nammuni Dewage took to the crease with more dot balls to come. Shortly before he was due to retire, Edmund was bowled out by a strong Tigers bowler and replaced with Lawrence Friesen. A good partnership between Ryan and Lawrence followed with further dot balls, keeping Aqua frusting low on the score card. An excellent bowl by the Tigers saw Ryan bowled out in the 10th over and replaced with Vincent Imbriano who immediately put 2 on the score card before being bowled out. This Tiger team provided a real challenge for the Aqua boys. A long and successful partnership between the Friesen brothers, Lawrence and Fred, calmed the Aqua nerves and watching the brothers at work was just lovely. The brothers both retired not out and were replaced by Daniel Trinca and Rami Moore who settled into the final overs bringing the score to 4/82.

Aqua’s opening bowler, Daniel, kept the Tigers at bay at the start of the second innings before Rami came in to bowl in the second over, taking a strong early wicket. Lots of single runs helped the Tigers get on the board, before Vincent bowled out another Tiger early in the 4th. When it came to Lawrences turn, he too bowled a wicket in the 7th over. With strong batting from the Tigers, Aqua’s work was cut out for them and the total runs continued to climb. Chayan managed to take a catch in the field in the 11th over. Strong bowling from Fred saw another wicket but it was a tad late with the Tigers taking Aqua for the win 5/84 at the end of the 18th over.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (3/103) defeated Daramalan White (4/101)

It was another “how’s your blood pressure?” game for Marist Aqua, this time against Daramalan White. After losing the toss and fielding in the hot afternoon sun, Aqua rose to the challenge. Early in the innings, Daniel Trinca took a sharp catch in the field to send a Dara batter off for a duck. Daramalan progressed with steady runs. Aqua was supported by solid wicketkeeping from Daniel and tight early overs from Fredrick Friesen and Julian Baseby. Daniel and Tom Ferrari kept the pressure on with strong hitting off Dara’s bowling, while Josh Roland and Lawrence Friesen continued the bowling effort, followed by Edmund Dziedzic. The momentum shifted when Ryan Nammuni Dewage delivered a thrilling spell, taking two wickets in two balls—including a golden duck; a real highlight of the game. Rami Moore added to the tally with an LBW, and with Edmund stepping in as wicketkeeper and Vincent Imbriano bowling to close out the innings, Dara finished at 4/101 off their 20 overs.

In a complete contrast to afternoons sharp bowling, Ryan opened the batting but was unfortunately dismissed for a duck (just unlucky). Aqua quickly regrouped, with Vincent Imbriano finding form and punching three boundaries, supported by a boundary from Josh to build a strong start. Rami added valuable runs after Josh retired, and Vincent soon followed, retiring not out. Lawrence joined Rami before Rami was bowled, and Tom Ferrari entered the chase soon after Lawrence fell to a contentious LBW (really?? we all said). With Aqua supporters holding their breath, Tom provided a steadying influence, scoring five runs and retiring not out. Daniel added a crucial 11 in partnership with Tom, easing nerves before Julian stepped in for the final push, contributing an impressive 13 runs. Their combined composure secured Aqua a well-earned victory, finishing on 3/103 in just 13 overs.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (3/100) defeated Marist Sapphire (5/99)

Playing at Marist, the T20 match began just as the Friday afternoon rain cleared. With both sides slightly short on players, Aqua’s captain Tom Ferrari won the toss and chose to bowl first. Edmund Dziedzic and Daniel Duffy opened the attack well, with Edmund taking an early wicket, bowling the opposition’s opener for a golden duck. Tom contributed with both bat and ball, also claiming a wicket, while Ryan Nammuni Dewage, Daniel Trinca, and Julian Baseby each added to the tally to close out the innings.

In the chase, Aqua’s batters built partnerships steadily. Ryan Nammuni Dewage and Julian Baseby provided a strategic and solid start, with Julian finding the boundary early. Tom Ferrari and Daniel Trinca followed with outstanding contributions, including several fours from both. In the final stages, Edmund Dziedzic and Josh Rolands saw the team past the target to secure the win for Aqua.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, keeping the run rate well in check. When Marist Slate went into bat it was difficult to score runs from some tight bowling. Lachie Lawrence had an excellent innings coming in at the end and he was well supported by both Hugo Green and Andrew Szivek who defended well, absorbing a lot of pressure from the bowlers. Marist Indigo

Marist Indigo (0/30) defeated Wests Rockets (6/29)

Perfect weather greeted Marist indigo as the travelled to Kaleen to play the Wests Rockets on Friday night. There was no toss because Lawrence Pace (our captain for the day) was still getting changed so wests just chose to bat to save time.

Saxon & Will opened the bowling and picked up 4 quick wickets leaving them at just 8 runs of 4 overs. The bowling was backed up by great pressure in the field leading to Jarvis getting two catches. The next to bowlers swiftly cleaned up the remaining wests leaving them at 29 all out of just 9 overs with Ethan taking the last wicket.

Lachie and Saxon played cautiously to keep out the wests strike bowler. They then went on the attack and chased down the required runs in the fifth over. Indigo is looking as great as ever  and there willing to keep the winning steak and unbeaten title in their pocket.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Sapphire

Marist Sapphire (4/145) defeated TVJCC Magpies (8/40)

Batting: Ash Dempsey 24*, Benji Fearn 20*, Eddie Tunningley 20*

Bowling: Hamish Carling 3/4, Eddie Tunningley 1/4, Max Frizza 1/8

Notable Players: Joe Walshe – 2 clever runouts. Henry Denny – Fantastic catch

Birthdays: Hamish Carling 😊

So the season is underway and the boys from Sapphire have notched up a win with an emphatic victory over TVJCC Magpies. The birthday boy, Hamish, had the honour of donning the captain’s bowtie for the inaugural match and, although he lost the toss, led the team with an inspiring performance (more on that later).

After being sent in to bat, Ash and Ari opened and quickly found their groove. In a blaze of five 4s, Ash hit his way to a team high of 24 before being dismissed. Ari batted out his 20 balls, which seemed to be the order of the day with Joe, Benji, and Eddie all doing the same. The four boys dismissed can hold their heads high, knowing they played good cricket but were just beaten by good balls. At the end of the 20 overs, the boys had accumulated an impressive 145 runs.

Riding high on the great batting effort, the team took to the field in good spirits as captain Hamish took the new ball. With the first ball of the season, Hamish had the batter playing uppishly and late, sending it towards gully where Henry was waiting to snare a fantastic catch. What a start! Things kept going from there as three balls later Hamish enticed a nick through to keeper Rory who snaffled it in his waiting gloves. The man in the bowtie was not finished, as in his very next over he snuck one through the gate to add another wicket to his collection. From there the Magpies never recovered. Eddie rattled the stumps in the fourth over, as did Max in the seventh. The rest of the boys kept their bowling tight, building pressure which eventually got too much for the team from Tuggeranong. A runout to Tomoki had Sapphire only two wickets off victory. Joe then pulled off some clever fielding and picked up two runouts in two balls to finish off the game.

A brilliant first outing by the boys. After only one training session and one game they have already gelled, all providing amazing support for each other. It feels like it’s going to be a great season!

Stage 2 Friday

On a beautiful afternoon at the newly upgraded oval in Garran, set beside the hospital, a strong team made up of Year 6 Marist players and some wonderful new Holy Trinity recruits kicked off the season with a magnificent display of teamwork that looked like the product of many years’ experience. Despite Weston Creek Green being a little late, waiting for some fill-in players, Marist generously offered to field first, setting a spirit of sportsmanship from the start. The bowling attack, led by Rami Moore, Lawrence Friesen, Ryan Nammuni Dewage, Josh Roland, and Daniel Trinca, was strong and precise, highlighting the team’s talent early on. Reliable wicketkeeping by Edmund Dziedzic and Tom Ferrari kept the opposition in check, with Lawrence notably claiming a golden duck from the opposition. When innings changed, Marist faced a fast Weston Creek bowling attack and unfortunately experienced their first taste of ducks. However, strong batting performances from Tom Ferrari, Daniel Trinca, captain Julian Baseby, and Fredrick Friesen kept the chase competitive. As the sun set and the lights went out, Marist fell just 15 runs short, signaling a promising start to the season despite the narrow loss. What an exciting start to the season!

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (4/136) defeated Wests Rockets (7/132)

On a very hot afternoon at Deakin (and after their first week of Year 7) Marist Aqua took on Wests Rockets. Captain Rami won the toss and elected to bowl. Solid opening spells from Lawrence Friesen and Daniel Trinca saw Wests make a slow start to their innings. Daniel’s brilliance in the field was on display, taking a sharp catch, before Ryan Nammuni Dewage followed with his own moment of class, bowling a Wests batsman for a duck.

The pressure continued with disciplined bowling from Julian Baseby and Edmund Dziedzic, although Wests began to build some momentum on the scoreboard with a few well-timed boundaries. Thomas Ferrari’s bowling skills were an absolute highlight when he joined the attack in the 11th, taking two wickets in quick succession, first bowling a Wests batsman for a golden duck and then backing it up with a second wicket.

Further tight bowling from Fred Friesen and Vincent Imbriano caused Wests’ run rate to stall before Captain Rami produced some bowling magic of his own, first stumping one Wests batsman and then bowling another in succession. The final ball of the over saw Daniel’s fielding brilliance shine once more, running out the last Wests batsman.

As the shade crept across the oval, Aqua began their innings with a solid opening partnership between Rami and Vincent. Captain Rami struck a few boundaries before being run out. Thomas then made his way to the crease but was unfortunately run out at the non-striker’s end without facing a ball, the harsh side of cricket, much to the disappointment of the spectators.

Vincent was then joined by Edmund, who responded immediately by striking a quick boundary to settle the innings. A steady partnership between Edmund and Vincent followed, with Edmund contributing several boundaries and Vincent adding one of his own, before both batsmen retired not out.

Julian and Fred formed the next partnership, with Julian hitting four boundaries and retiring not out, while Fred added three boundaries before being bowled. Ryan continued Aqua’s push and was joined by Daniel, before Ryan was caught in the field. Aqua’s final partnership, between Daniel and Lawrence, saw the total steadily edge towards victory, with Lawrence striking further boundaries to secure the game.

Congratulate to the Aqua boys on their kindness and support of each other - especially when experiencing a duck. Several boys were seen to check in on their mates during the match (Marist values are certainly on display).

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (7/56) tied with Marist Teal (3/56)

Marist Aqua and Marist Teal played out a tightly contested draw on Friday, finishing level at 56 runs each. Aqua started strongly, with Daniel Trinca’s excellent opening spell claiming two early wickets, including a golden duck, to set the tone for a disciplined fielding display. Captain Lawrence added a well-taken catch as Aqua kept Teal’s scoring low and slow.

Teal’s strategic use of one or two of their key bowlers only kept Aqua under pressure. Batting was challenging for both sides, with steady contributions from Julian Baseby, Tom Ferrari, and captain Fred Fiesen helping Aqua stay competitive. Apart from few hiccups, the match was played in good spirit by the Aqua lads. Aqua’s calm and methodical approach reflected the teams maturity and their sportsmanship was most notable by spectators.

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (5/106) defeated by TVJCC Magpies 2/107

On Friday 27th at Garran Oval, MCCCC Aqua played TVJCC Magpies. The Magpies won the toss and chose to bowl, putting early pressure on Aqua with accurate bowling. Opener Julian Baseby was unfortunately dismissed for a duck, giving Aqua a challenging start. Ryan Nammuni Dewage and Chayan Mehta worked hard at the crease but found runs difficult to come by against tight fielding and many dot balls. Daniel Trinca and captain Thomas Ferrari helped lift the scoring with several boundaries, including a six from Tom, before being dismissed. Lawrence Friesen added two boundaries, while Vincent Imbriano was unlucky to fall for a duck. Late contributions from Edmund Dziedzic and Fred Fiesen helped Aqua finish on 5/106.

The Magpies began their innings steadily, finding regular runs and making it difficult for Aqua to break partnerships. Aqua’s bowlers showed persistence, with Rami Moore producing a strong spell that included a wicket for a duck. Despite the team’s efforts in the field, the Magpies reached the target, finishing 2/107 to take the win.

In a close contest played in great spirit, Marist Slate were able to hang on for narrow victory. Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (6/100) defeated by WCMCC Gold (6/109)

On Friday 20 February, Marist Aqua faced Weston Creek Gold at Curtin South Oval. Captain Edmund Dziedzic won the toss and elected to bowl. A big thank you goes to our superstar stand-in, Daniel Duffy from Stage 1, who has regularly filled in for Aqua this season. We greatly appreciate the Duffy family’s support and love having Daniel as part of the team.

Aqua opened with solid bowling from Rami Moore and Daniel Duffy, highlighted by a run out from Daniel on the sixth ball. Weston Creek started slowly before finding boundaries and building momentum. Strong fielding efforts included a well-taken catch by Fred Friesen and a clean bowled wicket from Chayan Mehta, whose confidence continues to grow each week. Tight bowling from Vincent Imbriano and Ryan Nammuni Dewage helped slow the scoring, with Rami claiming another wicket in the field during the 11th over. Lawrence Friesen and Daniel Trinca maintained steady pressure, while Edmund took a wicket in the 16th over and Rami added another catch soon after. Weston Creek finished their innings at 6/109.

Lawrence gave Aqua a positive start in the chase, finding the boundary early, but frequent dot balls made scoring difficult. Daniel Trinca added a boundary and, alongside Ryan, showed patience at the crease before Daniel retired not out and Ryan was bowled. Vincent and Fred worked hard to rebuild the innings, with Fred contributing valuable runs before retiring after an impressive 24 from 20 balls. Contributions from Chayan, Edmund and Rami kept Aqua in contention, but despite a determined late effort from Daniel Trinca and Daniel Duffy, Aqua finished just nine runs short.
