INTRODUCTION INFORMATION

STAGE 1

STAGE 1
REGISTRATION INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES

STAGE 1 - DIVISION 1 & 2

The Division 1 & 2 competitions are for graded teams which are selected by the club.

  • These competitions record a score for each game, but there is no season ladder nor finals.

  • Graded teams play Saturday morning (8:15am) and train once a week (on a day chosen by the coach).

The club considers Division 1 & 2 to be ‘competitive cricket’. Boys seeking to play in Division 1 & 2 will be placed into teams based on club requirements not friendship groups or coaches’ preferences.

  • Boys who wish to play with friendship groups can be accommodated in the ungraded competition.

  • Coaches who wish to train specific groups of boys can also be accommodated in the ungraded competition.

To be considered for Division 1 & 2, boys must:

  • Be registered before Stage 1 trials.

  • Nominate their intention to participate in grading in their registration form.

  • Attend grading (if a boy cannot attend grading due to illness or another commitment, they must contact the Stage 1 Coordinator  prior to grading day.

  • Boys who are not selected for a graded team will be placed into the ungraded competition and may nominate friends they wish to play alongside.

As a general guideline, boys who wish to attend Stage 1 grading should be able to:

  • Bowl with the correct technique, the length of the pitch, and be able to bowl legal deliveries (no wides or no balls) the majority of the time.

  • Bat defensively and offensively, ideally be able to read a variety of different bowling deliveries, and connect with the ball the majority of the time.

  • Be able to throw and catch a cricket ball.

STAGE 1 - UNGRADED
The Ungraded competition is for boys who are new to cricket or wish to play in a social competition.

  • This competition records a score for each game, but there is no season ladder nor finals.

  • Ungraded teams play either Friday afternoon (5:00pm), other weekday games may be available, or Saturday morning (8:15am), and train once a week (on a day chosen by the coach).

    • Friday night hosts most of the ungraded teams, and Saturday morning will only be offered if the club is able to fill a team.

    • Families will be asked to select their preference at registration – this is very important, please think carefully when making your selection.

To play ungraded cricket, boys must:

  • Be registered prior to closing of registration.

  • In your registration form, please indicate your preference day for cricket, usually a Friday or Saturday, but this may differ each season.

  • If desired, nominate 4-5 friends whom you would like to play alongside.
