 GENERAL INFO

 2025 - 2026 SEASON

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Marist College Canberra Cricket Club exists to provide an effective cricket support infrastructure for Marist students to play cricket and develop their cricket skills and interest in the game.

Any current or enrolled student is invited to register and play for the club. We encourage boys that have been formally offered a position at Marist for the following year (including current Year 3 and 6 students) to join the club,

GOALS

  • To provide all students at Marist with the opportunity to play cricket.

  • To maximise the level of participation of students who choose to play cricket.

  • To provide qualified coaches for the College's cricket teams.

  • To provide all players with the opportunity to be coached in all facets of the game.

  • To educate Marist cricketers in the etiquette of the sport and ensure that coaches and players play the game accordingly.

  • To develop all teams, and especially the 1st XI, into successful combinations where all boys are able to contribute to a team's success.

  • To keep the College and general community informed of the progress of its cricket teams.

  • To maximise the level of satisfaction students gain from playing cricket so they will want to play the game ‘next year’.

  • To assist with the running of junior cricket in the ACT.

  • To encourage Marist players to play in representative teams.

  • To ensure that funding is available to achieve all other goals.

STAGES NOT AGES

The Cricket ACT pathways program focusses on enjoyment and engagement, developing player's skills over a two year or more age bracket.

Boys are placed in the stage that matches their age as of the 1 September (not the 1 January).

Marist does not enter into the Cricket Blast Program, all Under 10 enrolled or current students will be placed in Stage 1and will be given extra support if needed.

UNIFORM

All players are to wear the long sleeved Marist College crested cricket shirt, and wide brimmed hat or cap (available from the Marist uniform shop), with white cricket pants (available at retail shops).

The 2025/26 season will require players to wear coloured Marist cricket shirts, replacing the traditional white shirts (the coloured shirts will also be permitted to be worn as PE tops within the College).  The Marist uniform shop will stock the new shirts for players by the beginning of the season.

The club recommend purchasing a cheap pair of white cricket pants this season, as next season the club will introduce coloured cricket pants.

Please note: The Marist cricket uniform must display the College crest, Marist Cricket supporter items with the cricket logo are not approved for use by the players while participating.

EQUIPMENT

All players are required to provide their own protector and mandatory helmet.  Bats, pads and gloves are available for shared use in most team kit bags, in particular for Stage 1.

Players often have their own bats, pads and gloves and are responsible for their own equipment.

TEAM SELECTION

The Club Stage Coordinators review registration requests and comments, liaise with trial selectors (if relevant), and coaches (if identified), and Club and College officials to allocate appropriate graded and ungraded teams. Communication and registration of each team in PlayHQ will occur after the Stage Coordinator has organised the majority of their teams and coaches and managers have been identified.
