Willow Talk #15 - week ending 8th March
From Andy Rees
MCCCC families,
What a great week of Marist Cricket we had this weekend, where our boys showed great spirit in tight situations.
A special mention to our T20 Grand Finalists who while unable to play their big games this week, are well deserving of their season success.
Congratulations Marist Blue premiers in the Colts Div 3 T20 comp, Marist Sky premiers in the stage 3 Div 1 T20 comp and Marist Light premiers in the Stage 2 Div 2 T20 comp. Well done First XI, runners up in the Colts Div 1 T20 comp, and Marist Light, runners up in the Stage 3 Div 2 T20 comp.
In our one day games, our MCCCC boys showed enormous resolve in a weekend of nail biters and outstanding team performances.
Well done and commiserations to Stage 3 Div 2 Blue, Stage 2 Div 2 Light and Stage 2 Div 2 Blue on your hard fought semi finals on the weekend. Outstanding efforts also noted from Stage 2 Div 2 Blue, coming within a run in their play-off run chase on Saturday. Special mention Stage 3 Div 3 Midnight with a solid win to finish their season.
Well done Stage 3 Div 1 Sky on a gritty semi-final victory, best wishes for another quality performance like that in your GF.
Well done Stage 3 Div 2 Light on a thrilling semi-final win against ladder topping YDCC. If you want to understand how a team batting second can be all out on the final ball and still win by 1 run, you will need to ask Mark F and his magicians to explain how it can be done. Well done Stage 2 Div 1 Royal on their strong semi-final win and good luck to keep the momentum rolling in the GF.
Here's hoping our MCCCC community can find some time to get down, wear some blue, and support one of our teams for a few overs at least in the Grand Finals this weekend. It’s always a thrill for the boys to play in front of a big Marist crowd. As Grand Finals get tense and exciting, our sideline support will give our boys the reassurance to have the best possible GF experience. Win lose or draw, lets make the last matches of the season a celebration of the outstanding seasons the boys have had. Go MCCCC.
On a different note - thanks to all our team who bought tickets in the Toyota Club Raffle - full list of MCCCC winners to be published soon. We raised over $3000 to contribute towards our new uniforms next season.
