Cricket Safety: Everyone Needs to Play Their Part

Cricket can be unpredictable, please take a moment to review these key reminders to help ensure a safe and enjoyable match day for all.

  • Helmets are required for all junior players when batting and wicketkeeping - Colts wicketkeepers must wear a helmet if within 7m of the stumps

  • No player may field within 10m (15m for Stage 1) of the batter unless positioned in the slips

  • Players must be taught to watch the ball at all times — whether batting, bowling, fielding, or preparing to take the field

  • Coaches and Managers are responsible for ensuring the match environment is safe - If the ground or weather conditions are unsafe or not appropirate, both teams will agree to call off the game

  • Match warm-ups MUST be conducted well away from spectators and vehicles

  • Sunscreen and hydration are essential — a runner should be ready to hydrate batters when needed
