Marist 4th XI (9-176 - 36 overs) defeated by Dara Colts (195 - 40 overs) - DLS

As our boys kept pushing for the win in what was definitely not cricket weather - a massive thanks to our scorer and umpire braving the elements alongside them.

Despite battling some truly horrendous weather conditions, the boys put together a strong performance this week. A massive storm rolled across the ground late in the match, bringing wild winds, rain and plenty of chaos, with umbrellas and spectators being blown in every direction. Fortunately, the weather held out for most of the game, allowing the team to showcase some excellent cricket before conditions eventually brought proceedings to an unfortunate end.

With the bat, Alex Moore anchored the innings superbly, scoring 51 runs from 64 balls and providing the foundation for a competitive total. A special mention also goes to Will Spencer, whose aggressive and entertaining innings of 32 runs from 27 balls was highlighted by an outstanding strike rate of 118.51, keeping the scoreboard moving at a crucial stage of the match.

Our bowling attack continues to show great signs of improvement. Noah Maguire led the way with an impressive three wickets, while Tom Berry and Will Scholtens both made valuable contributions, taking two wickets apiece and helping to keep the opposition under pressure throughout the innings.

Unfortunately, just as the game was reaching an exciting conclusion, the weather had the final say. With only 19 runs required from four overs, the match was called off due to the storm, leaving players and supporters alike wondering what might have been.

While the result was undoubtedly disappointing, the way our boys competed, persevered and supported one another throughout the match was nothing short of outstanding. To remain focused and committed in such difficult conditions speaks volumes about the character of this team. Their encouragement of one another, positive attitude and willingness to fight until the very end was incredible to witness and is a true reflection of the Marist spirit. The camaraderie on display was exceptional, and the players should be commended for the way they represented the College. We could not be prouder of their efforts. If they continue to play with the same determination, resilience and teamwork, there is no doubt that the results will follow. Well done, boys!
