Willow Talk #8 - week ending 7th December

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Aqua

Marist Aqua (3/103) defeated Daramalan White (4/101)

It was another “how’s your blood pressure?” game for Marist Aqua, this time against Daramalan White. After losing the toss and fielding in the hot afternoon sun, Aqua rose to the challenge. Early in the innings, Daniel Trinca took a sharp catch in the field to send a Dara batter off for a duck. Daramalan progressed with steady runs. Aqua was supported by solid wicketkeeping from Daniel and tight early overs from Fredrick Friesen and Julian Baseby. Daniel and Tom Ferrari kept the pressure on with strong hitting off Dara’s bowling, while Josh Roland and Lawrence Friesen continued the bowling effort, followed by Edmund Dziedzic. The momentum shifted when Ryan Nammuni Dewage delivered a thrilling spell, taking two wickets in two balls—including a golden duck; a real highlight of the game. Rami Moore added to the tally with an LBW, and with Edmund stepping in as wicketkeeper and Vincent Imbriano bowling to close out the innings, Dara finished at 4/101 off their 20 overs.

In a complete contrast to afternoons sharp bowling, Ryan opened the batting but was unfortunately dismissed for a duck (just unlucky). Aqua quickly regrouped, with Vincent Imbriano finding form and punching three boundaries, supported by a boundary from Josh to build a strong start. Rami added valuable runs after Josh retired, and Vincent soon followed, retiring not out. Lawrence joined Rami before Rami was bowled, and Tom Ferrari entered the chase soon after Lawrence fell to a contentious LBW (really?? we all said). With Aqua supporters holding their breath, Tom provided a steadying influence, scoring five runs and retiring not out. Daniel added a crucial 11 in partnership with Tom, easing nerves before Julian stepped in for the final push, contributing an impressive 13 runs. Their combined composure secured Aqua a well-earned victory, finishing on 3/103 in just 13 overs.
