Willow Talk #11 - week ending 8th February

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Indigo

Marist Indigo (1/118) defeated Wests S2 - Wild West (6/117)

On a scorching day, Marist Indigo took on Wests, with Wests winning the toss on a fast outfield and electing to bat first.

Lachlan Jeffs and Will opened the bowling strongly, with the first wicket falling in the fourth over to finish off their opening spell. Cooper and Saxon were then brought into the attack, with Saxon delivering an excellent spell, taking two wickets and bringing the total to three early breakthroughs. The pressure continued when Jarvis produced a brilliant run-out to claim the fourth wicket.

After Wests built a solid partnership and had a batter retire, Nihal struck with a sensational delivery that shattered the stumps. The innings ended dramatically with Will taking a wicket on the final ball. Lawrence also played a key role, contributing with some outstanding bowling.

Chasing 118, Lachlan Medlin and Nihal opened the batting aggressively, putting on a rapid 50 runs off just 40 balls. Ben then came to the crease and top-scored with an impressive 31 off 20 balls, including five boundaries. Jarvis unfortunately departed for 8 off 10 balls, bringing Lawrence in, who scored 7 off 9 balls, including his second four of the season.

After Ben retired, Saxon came in and faced the final delivery to help see the team home.

Overall, it was a strong team performance with both bat and ball. While there were a few slip-ups in the field, Marist Indigo showed great effort and teamwork throughout the match.
