Stage 2 Friday
Marist Indigo
MARIST INDIGO (5/166) DEFEATED MARIST SLATE (8/69)
On a cold, wind-swept Friday night the Marist Indigo team won the toss and elected to bat first. After an inauspicious start with a duck, Indigo went on to amass a staggering total of 166 runs, including 23 boundaries and 4 players retiring not-out. Saxon, Lachlan and Jarvis all accrued impressive totals, but William led the pack with a total of 40 runs off 20 balls. All of the team did very well with the bat, and communication between the pairs on the pitch was consistently good. The run total was the highest achieved by Indigo thus far in the season.
Slate had a big total to chase. The second innings started slow, with Indigo not able to get any wickets early on whilst Slate was equally unable to secure many runs. After six uneventful overs, William went to town with 3 wickets in the seventh over. LJ continued the carnage with two more wickets in the eighth over. Some batter miscommunications enabled Saxon to claim a run-out in the eleventh, and Cooper made a great catch off a Jarvis ball in the seventeenth. LJ rounded out the innings with a run-out off Benjamin’s ball in the eighteenth over. Indigo had secured a dominant victory over Slate, and everyone was keen to head off for a warm dinner!
