Stage 3 Div 2
Marist Light
Marist Light 9/170 defeated by YDCC blasters 4/192
Batting: Will Scholtens 34* Jack McD 33, Will Spencer 32 and Will Loft on his new high score of 27
Bowling: Jack McD 2/22, Will Loft 1/18 and Will Spencer with tight bowling but no wicket
special mention: great run out by Noah M and Jack's caught and bowled.
Light headed up to Amaroo to face Yerrabi on a sunny but windy (again!) morning.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, they got right into it. Will L and Will Sp opened the bowling attack, keeping the run rate down. Lofty took the first wicket in the 3rd over with Noah taking the catch. Lofty and Spence kept the runs low in their spell.
Liam and Jack were next bowlers up.
the 10th over was a crucial one - a 2 wicket 3 run over. Jack took the danger man who's run rate was rapidly increasing, with a high caught and bowled. He took Another wicket a couple of balls later with Spence taking the catch. The next over saw the run out by Noah but from there on in, the run rate increased. A short interlude occurred when the game ball got smacked and headed down a nearby drain. After finding a new ball play continued. Yerrabi's run rate still increased and the wickets just didn't come. Yerrabi put in a very respectable 192 in the end.
The Light batting innings got off to a disasterous start, with Tom and Noah dismissed in successive balls of the first over. Will Scholtens and Lachie F were the new batsmen. Will plodded along making nice shots and Lachie quickly getting to double figures before being caught.
Joey was the new batsman. The batsmen were held back from really opening up by some great Yerrabi bowling. Joey was caught in the 12th over. Jack replaced Joey and slowly started to pick up some runs. Will Sc retired with Spence replacing him. They had a great partnership before Spence was dismissed. Lachie E was in but was unfortunately dismissed on his 3rd ball. Lofty was then in, partnering with Jack until Jack was run out. Lofty made some fine shots, trying very hard to get a 6. Liam
made some vital runs before he and then Lofty were dismissed in the 29th over.
Whilst it wasn't Lights day they had smiles regardless, celebrating some great performances like Lofty's new highest score!
well done boys
Rach
