Marist Midnight 145-4 defeated by Radford 147-1

Batting: Yash Karnati 68 n.o, Milan Guruge 13 n.o

Man of the Match: Yash Karnati

Sunday brought a hot day for cricket as Marist Midnight batted first against a disciplined Radford attack. Runs were hard to come by early, but Max Feeney and Senuk Jayasekara both retired not out after their allocated balls, showing control and composure at the crease.

Alex Heffernan and Josh Katz tried to accelerate the scoring but fell in quick succession, paving the way for Yash Karnati and Milan Guruge. Both approached their innings with urgency, running smartly between the wickets and playing some beautiful shots. Yash finished with 68, while Milan retired on 13 after his allocated balls to a rapturous applause from teammates and spectators alike. George Whitton, Ranbeer Singh, and James Wright guided Marist through the final overs, finishing with a competitive total of 4-145.

Marist then took to the field in the relentless heat, determined to keep Radford in check. However, Radford batted with flair and scored at a rapid pace. Marist’s fielding became a little ragged under pressure, and the team welcomed the drinks break to regroup.

Refreshed and refocused, Marist returned with renewed energy, highlighted by an outstanding run-out from George Whitton. Despite this spark, Radford quickly recovered and went on to win the game comfortably, proving themselves worthy victors.

Marist can be proud of their performance. The team never gave up, displayed great spirit, and delivered some standout individual performances in challenging conditions with Yash Karnati being Man of the Match
