Marist Midnight

Marist Midnight (87) Defeated WCMCC (86)

A Great Start to the Season for Midnight!

There were plenty of nerves ahead of the first game back for the season, with clear blue skies and a slightly damp outfield setting the scene.

Vice-Captain Orlando Pabian won the toss and elected to bowl first, and the Midnight boys got straight to work with an excellent bowling performance. The team kept things tight, conceding just 16 extras. Nick Ryan was the standout with an impressive 3/1, including a perfect delivery that helped create a run-out, followed by two wickets. Hamish Henry also bowled brilliantly, taking 1 wicket for just 3 runs. Orlando was equally impressive behind the stumps, keeping beautifully and making sure nothing got past him easily.

It was a fantastic team effort, restricting WCMCC to a final score of 86.

The run chase started steadily, with our first four batsmen building a solid foundation. A standout partnership between Nate Hamilton and Saxon Owens McVie helped keep the momentum going. Saxon showed great awareness and encouragement between the wickets, pushing hard for extra runs and helping the team pick up another 12 runs through smart running. Both Nate and Saxon finished as the team's top scorers.

As Midnight moved closer to the target, WCMCC began applying the pressure, making for an exciting finish. Despite a few tense moments, the boys stayed positive and worked together to get the job done.

A fantastic win and a brilliant start to the season! Every player contributed, including our new teammates! The boys should be proud of the way they supported each other, stuck to the plan and played as a team. Well done, Midnight!
