With only a few weeks remaining until finals, Marist Navy produced a gutsy and well-earned win in testing conditions.

WCMCC won the toss and elected to bat, getting off to a flying start that put early pressure on our bowlers. The Navy boys dug in, kept the chat positive, and were rewarded when Kemith made the crucial breakthrough. From there the wickets came steadily, with contributions across the board. Six bowlers shared the wickets, and while WCMCC weren’t dismissed, the run rate was significantly slowed in the second 15 overs.

At the end of 30 overs, Marist Navy were set a challenging target of 173 in the heat.

Openers Will and Kalum laid the perfect foundation with a composed 50-run partnership, setting the tone for the chase. Isaac, Noah, and Cholan all chipped in with handy contributions, while Lachie anchored the innings superbly, top scoring with 37. Valuable runs from the tail ensured the momentum never slipped.

Marist Navy crossed the line with eight balls to spare, sealing a strong team performance. A highly enjoyable game of cricket, played in great spirit, and a timely confidence boost as finals approach.

A dominant T20 performance from Marist, with the batters well and truly in command.

Marist bowled first and after taking some early wickets, GJCC settled and batted out the full 20 overs, posting a total of 85.

Marist came out swinging in reply, timing the ball beautifully and finding the boundary with ease.

The target was chased down in the 13th over in another excellent all-round team performance.
