This one was a close one! A real bowler’s day out. We knew we were up against it facing the toughest bowling attack in the comp and we felt it early as Marist Navy lost a few quick wickets and slipped to 4/17. Ever-reliable Will Costigan smacked some fast runs before Cholan Tharmarajah and super-sub Saxon Owens-McVie steadied the ship and guided Marist to a respectable 131, all out in the 25th.

When it was our turn with the ball, the wickets came steadily and we cruised to 7/81. But a stubborn tail had the tension rising almost as quickly as the temperature, before Divij Shah sealed the deal with a superb caught-and-bowled late in the 23rd. Strong bowling performances all round, with Cholan grabbing 3 and Saxon and Divij each pocketing a pair.

A day when hope never wavered, the boys stuck together, and Marist came away with a well-earned, hard-fought win.
