There’s nothing quite like a Marist v Marist showdown to start the season! Navy won the toss, elected to bat and got off to a flying start, with Christian Rego (27) and fill-in Arjun Pardeshi (10) putting on 39 for the opening wicket.

Contributions throughout the order kept the scoreboard ticking, including Noah Johnston (31) and a brilliant unbeaten 38 from Josh Moody, who apparently didn't even like batting a year ago! Navy finished with a competitive 181.

Light weren't going down without a fight, and the chase was tight throughout. But Navy's energy in the field, teamwork and some terrific bowling kept the pressure on. Kabir Kodwani (2/13) was outstanding, narrowly missing a hat-trick, while Shahmir Mahmood (1/9) and Yash Reddy Karnati (1/5) were equally economical. Emmett Posener and Noah Johnston both took catches and combined for a run-out on the final ball to secure a hard-fought victory

A fantastic team effort, particularly from the Year 9 boys backing up after a big week at camp.
