Marist won the toss and elected to bat. The game started with an acknowledgment of country for Indigenous Round, led by coach Liam.

In difficult conditions with a thatchy ground, heat and water logged pitch, Marist posted a good score in the first innings, with all players contributing runs and learning how to adjust to the bowling and conditions. In the second innings Marist shone in the field with 11 wickets and 4 runouts/catches, taking their total to over 200, leading to a convincing win.

What I’m most impressed about with this team is how they show up for each other. Whether it is words of encouragement on the pitch after being bowled out, celebrating a wicket and a good shot, or turning up to the game to support even when you are injured. It’s cheering on the “team hat trick”, valuing team contributions and in the respect and care they show for others. It has been so great to watch you grow and learn supported by amazing coaching staff this season. Well done Marist Royal!
