Willow Talk #8 - week ending 7th December

Stage 2 Friday

Marist Sapphire

Marist Sapphire (0/67) defeated BAS Falcons (6/64)

Batting: Hamish Carling 10, Benji Fearn 10
Bowling: Max Frizza 2/18
Notable Players: Henry Denny – solid keeping

The boys showed intent from ball one, putting the Falcons under pressure and chasing down the target with authority.

Max Frizza led the bowling attack, picking up 2 for 18, while Joe Walshe and Hamish Carling claimed a wicket each, keeping everything tidy. Benji Fearn bowled an economical 4-over spell for just 4 runs with a maiden, and Ashton Dempsey matched the discipline with 3 overs for 2 runs, including a maiden. The fielding was sharp — two runouts, three clean grabs from keeper Henry Denny, and a smart outfield catch from Eddie Tunningley kept the Falcons firmly in check.

Hamish Carling got the chase moving with 10 off 20 balls and two crisp boundaries, followed by Benji Fearn with 10 off 15 balls, hitting two boundaries of his own. Max Frizza hunted quick runs, retiring on 8 off 20 to keep the tempo high. And when it was all but over, Henry Denny sealed the deal with a four, finishing the 10-wicket win in style.

Clean bowling, clever fielding, and a confident chase — the boys made it look easy.
