Willow Talk #8 - week ending 7th December

Stage 1 Div 1

Marist Sky

Marist Sky (260) defeated YDCC Blazers (129)

Batting: Kaveer Rohatgi 43, Henry Caboche 36

Bowling: Oliver Kumarasinhe 2/9

It was a hot day for cricket and a handy day to win the toss. Dan chose to bowl first and avoid the worst of the heat, which turned out to be a good call.

Bowling first, the Sky pace attack was fast and pretty accurate (for us), keeping the Yerrabi team from scoring or settling during the early overs. Ollie and Hardy were hard to get away and kept the scoring down, with Harry and Kaveer breaking through a few overs in. After the 10 over mark, things go better again. Henry found his rhythm and was his dangerous best, Dan took off the keeping gloves and bowl fast, Pretty soon most of the team were in the wickets, with Ollie, Harry and Kaveer all getting two.

Once it was time to bat, the sun was right up and hot, and Harrison had returned from his photoshoot. Kaveer and Dan opened the batting with a 78 run partnership that set the tone for what was to come. All of the boys punished the bad balls, ran hard between the wickets, and had a great time. The middle order of Harry, Hardy and Henry batted well in partnerships, adding another 70+ runs together. With a fast outfield, Harrison and Ollie took full advantage of the tired opposition, sending them to the boundary to fetch the ball another ten times.

An excellent performance by the team, everyone contributed, everyone had fun. Great work team
