S1 Marist Strikers defeated 77 to 161 by Marist Thunder
Game summary: Cricket on Friday afternoon was played in fantastic conditions, with temperatures in the low 30s and barely a cloud in the sky. Parents and students gathered around Oval 3 to watch Marist Strikers take on Marist Thunder.
Thunder won the toss and elected to bat first, sending the Strikers to their fielding positions. James R opened the bowling with great pace, but Thunder’s Jasper came out firing, smashing two consecutive fours to get his team off to a strong start. James R responded brilliantly with some quick-thinking fielding to secure an important wicket. The Strikers impressed in the field, with Alfie showing real commitment to intercept the ball and prevent runs. Behind the stumps, Jack displayed excellent wicket-keeping skills, confidently handling the fast deliveries from James R. At the end of the first innings it was time for some well earned sausage rolls and chicken before heading back out.
When it was the Strikers’ turn to bat, Alfie and James P worked hard to sneak quick runs whenever possible. Thunder’s Ollie Orders delivered some swift and challenging bowls, putting the Strikers under pressure. Alfie sending one just shy of the boundary with a powerful shot. In the end, Thunder claimed a flurry of late wickets to secure the win, but both teams showed fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship.
Notable Players: Owen (Player of the Match) and for earning his batting & bowling milestones, Jams G for Captains Book and James R for reaching 100 run milestone.
