Stage 1 Friday
Marist Strikers
TVJCC Kookas Def Marist Strikers 90
The Strikers headed to the deep south of Gordon on Friday evening, taking in the scenic Brindabellas and arriving just in time to face the quickest bowler they’ve seen all season. Think junior Bumrah, but with even more enthusiasm. The opening bats James G and Alfie did well to hold strong in front of their stumps and settle into the innings.
Runs were tight early, but James R. and Tex Ferrari combined for an excellent last wicket partnership ensuring the strikers post a competitive total. Sharp calling, smart singles, and calm communication kept the scoreboard moving — with Ferrari capitalising on a couple of Tuggeranong misfields to finish as top scorer along with Doug and James R.
Tuggeranong began their chase with real intent, punishing anything loose. Marist responded by tightening the bowling after the drinks break and lifting their discipline in the field. Slater showed continued improvement with his bowling action, supported by the strikers strong energy in the field.
A special mention to Jack N, who delivered a standout all-round fielding performance: two run-outs and a catch and a wicket, earning him Man of the Match. A massive contribution and a genuine lift for the side.
A solid performance overall and another positive step forward for the Strikers. Special mention to the entire team for putting there hands up and helping out Tuggies in the field continuing to show the Strikers strong spirit and teamwork.
