2026/27 SEASON

PRE SEASON UPDATE
With the 2026/27 cricket season now just around the corner, I wanted to provide an update on preparations across the Club and invite everyone to join us for our Season Launch on Sunday, 20 September 2026 at Marist College Canberra.
The day will bring our community together to officially open the season, with pre-season games, a formal welcome, coffee cart, BBQ lunch, a training clinic led by our Colts players, and a club raffle. It will also be a great opportunity to meet new teammates and families
I encourage everyone to come along, get involved and enjoy what should be a great day of cricket and community at Marist. All players, families, coaches, volunteers and supporters are welcome. Please see WhatsApp messages for RSVP and see club socials and launch communications for timings.
Season Registrations - Final Opportunity.
There is still time for current students and students enrolled at Marist for 2027, to register for the 2026/27 season, with registrations remaining open until Sunday, 13 September 2026.

Trials and Team Allocations
Our season trials are now complete. Thank you to all players, coaches and volunteers who contributed. Team selections are progressing, with our Colts pre-season program also well underway and strong attendance across the group.
Team allocations are now progressing, with graded and non-graded teams expected to be communicated as follows:
• Stage 1 and Stage 2: Week commencing 14 September 2026
• Stage 3 and Colts: Week commencing 21 September 2026
Further information will be provided directly to families as allocations are confirmed. Only once teams are allocated will coaches be known and training days /times allocated.
Uniform, Coloured Pants and Pads
A reminder that the Marist cricket uniform is required for all Club cricket and is available through the Marist College uniform shop. For 2026/27, this includes the new coloured cricket pants, coloured long-sleeve cricket shirt and cricket cap/hat. A plain, white-brimmed cricket hat remains acceptable, and the Club will again be providing senior cricket playing shirts to Colts players.
White pads remain the standard and are completely acceptable. Coloured pads and clads are optional, with no requirement to purchase new equipment. For families who do choose coloured equipment, the Club recommends royal blue to complement the new uniform.
Our Club Runs on Volunteers
MCCCC is a volunteer-run community club and supporting more than 30 teams depends on parents and members sharing the workload. I encourage all parents to get involved where they can, whether through scoring, umpiring, managing, coaching or other team responsibilities. I also encourage parents to consider completing a coaching or umpiring course. It is a great way to support your child, develop valuable skills and contribute to the wider MCCCC community.
We also currently have three vacant Committee positions:
• WhatsApp Coordinator
• Social Media Coordinator (shared role)
• Sponsorship and Fundraising Coordinator
If you are interested in helping in any of these areas, or simply want to contribute in another way, please reach out to the Committee or direct to myself.
If you are volunteering with the Club, please ensure you register as a volunteer through the registration process. To register, click here.
Volunteers are also required to hold a valid Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. If you need to apply for or renew your WWVP registration, this can be completed through Access Canberra.

Winter Clinic - Celebrating 20 Years
A big congratulations to all the boys who participated in our 20th Annual Winter Clinic. Approximately 40 students took part across four consecutive Sunday sessions, continuing a program that has now supported more than 860 young cricketers over two decades.
The Winter Clinic is a great example of what makes our Club special, with experienced coaches, senior players and volunteers giving their time to help younger players develop their skills, build confidence and enjoy their cricket. A particular thank you to Gary Goodman, our volunteer coaches and everyone who helped make the 20th anniversary clinic such a success.
Staying Connected
Our Club communications will continue to use the website, email, WhatsApp and social media to keep families informed throughout the season.
Our general Club email remains info@maristcricket.com.au, with the website continuing to be the central source for registrations, policies, key dates and other Club information.
2026/27 Season - Key Dates
Cricket ACT has now provided the initial competition calendar for the 2026/27 season. The key commencement dates are Friday 16th -> Sunday 18th October (depending on stage schedule). T20’s will commence from 21 October 2026.
The initial fixture release from CACT covering the first three rounds is currently planned for 7 October 2026.
Looking Forward
The new season is almost here, with players, coaches and volunteers preparing for another year of cricket. Our Season Launch will be a great opportunity to bring the Club together and start the season as a community.
It remains a privilege to serve as President of MCCCC, and I thank our players, families, coaches, managers, Committee members and volunteers for everything you contribute to our Club. Your commitment is what makes MCCCC such a strong and welcoming cricket community. I look forward to another great season together.
Go Marist!
Regards,
Scott Foley
