Marist Hurricanes (133) defeated Marist Strikers (124)

It was a warm November evening when the Marist Hurricanes took on the Marist Strikers in the jewel of the Tuggeranong valley, Kambah. Families and flies gathered to watch the boys play, unfortunately flies outnumbered spectators fifty to one. The Hurricanes welcomed Oliver to the team for his first ever game of cricket.

The Hurricanes lost the toss and according to captain Kiaan, “still got what we wanted and batted (first)”. All boys batted well, with Noah hitting a brilliant 4 in the sixth over. Dinner of pizza and garlic bread sustained the boys before going in to the second innings to bowl.

Carb loaded, the boys pulled out a spectacular number of wickets and runs outs. Kabeesh was on fire with two wickets and 3 run outs, followed by Kanoa with one wicket and one run out. Oliver, Fletcher, Kiaan and Harry all pitched in getting one wicket each with Luca and Austin getting Jonty Rhodes-esque run outs.

Well done to all the boys and keep it up. ‘It was a great day for the Hurricanes, a great day for Marist College and a great day for the world.’ (Paraphrased Bill Lawry, 12th Man)
