From Andy Rees
As we come up to the Christmas break I’d like to thank all our volunteers for their work getting our boys games of cricket in the first half of the season. I’m sure all the boys will be showing their appreciation for the drop offs, the pick up, the throw downs, the applause when they’ve done well and the tissues when it didn’t go their way on Christmas Day. Hope there is a little bit extra under the tree this Christmas for all our cricket supporters.
A special farewell and thanks to Jenny VDM, one of our hard working stage coords over the past two seasons for her great work. Good luck to the VDM family in the move north to Marist Ashgrove, see you at a carnival in future. Welcome to the role of Stage 2 Coord Lisa Johnston - thank you for taking it on. Farewell also to our long serving coach Cade Brown this Christmas although we know you will be staying close with the club. Farewell and good luck to Archie Brown, Hayden Gripske and all our boys and their families who change schools or and clubs over the break. We’ll be welcoming some new players in the new year of course, so let’s show them what we are famous for - our tight knit team communities.
Thanks to all our families for getting behind our Pink tests and raising valuable funds for the McGrath Foundations cancer work. Everything raised goes directly to the support of cancer sufferers. Special thanks to Al R for organising the raffle. Congrats to Justin B and all the other winners, and thanks to our valued supporters ISC Cricket Camp, Weston Indoor Sports and Chifley Grocers for contributing to the fundraiser. Keep you eye out for the club raffle in the new year. There have been some fantastic cricket contests so far this season and it looks like we have been tested all the way in many matches. What a great opportunity to get better as cricketers. The school is now closed and will reopen for training on 27 Jan. I hope everyone gets a chance to stay in touch with some cricket practice over the holidays. Send us a photo of your classic catch from Christmas Day backyard cricket if you get one. Merry Christmas and see you in the new year.
