Marist Sky
Marist Sky 5/244 defeated Wests 9/156
Under a glorious Saturday sky, arguably the best weather we’ve seen this season, Marist Sky clinched a convincing win against Wests. Winning the toss, Marist’s openers Issac Trent (18) and Jack Smedley (55) set a solid foundation, showing resilience and learning from previous matches by putting immediate pressure on the opposition’s bowlers. Smeds, dazzled with positive intent with 55 from 39 balls, striking the ball cleanly and finding the gaps with ease.
Kalindu, in sublime form, followed up with a rapid-fire 93 off just 40 balls, including nine towering sixes. His confidence at the crease was matched only by the skill he’s honed through extra practice sessions, making his innings a real highlight and leaving the team wondering if a century was within reach. Darcy (Big D) contributed a valuable 22 runs and backed it up with a disciplined spell, taking 3/8 to further restrict Wests’ batting.
The big news for Marist Sky this week was the return of The Bison (Tippo), who made an immediate impact with 29 not out from 15 balls. The Bison then impressed with the ball, charging in from a short run-up (Bull like) and finishing with 4/17, showing his trademark aggression and accuracy. Joey Imbriando from Stage 3 Light kindly stepped up to help the side, showcasing his exciting leg spin after being handed the new ball by stand-in captain Tom Motley.
With such a strong team effort, Marist Sky heads into the festive break full of confidence.
