Marist Midnight
Marist Midnight 6/139 Defeated Radford Falcons 8/1388
When we arrived, the weather was overcast and threatening to rain. Radford College Falcons won the toss and elected to bat. We took to a damp field, Radford had a solid start.
It rained at drink break, we took to the field and kept up the pressure with our bowling and fielding, resulting in three quick wickets. Blake Lette bowled with such power that he knocked the middle stump out of the stumps, causing a delay to the game as it was reset. By the 27th over, our bowlers had the opposition all out. Bowling highlights included Blake Lette with three wickets, Matthew Graham with a maiden and Orlando Pabian with one of the best economies of the match.
We made a steady start to our batting, with good running between the wickets and a few well timed boundaries setting us up for victory. After drinks, our batters built partnerships and maintained pressure on the opposition. Strong contributions from several players guided us to our first win of the season in the 27th over. Midnight was positive, believed in each of their abilities and encouraged each other.
Hamish Henry received rhe Coaches award for consistent batting and taking risks and Hugh Williams earned the Parents Award for his resilence and personal best.
