Under stormy skies Marist Royal locked in for a tough battle against top of the ladder Wests. It was a rocky start, losing two quick wickets to some excellent bowling. Up to the crease stepped Dimitri to continue his excellent form from the previous week. Dimitri smashed 72 runs off 31 balls, showing excellent timing and seriously impressive strength. He was ably supported by Ned, Chip, Harry and Tom to reach a team total of 175 runs.

Our bowling was consistent and tight, frustrating the Wests team. Combined with watchful fielding, we built pressure even without getting regular wickets. Everyone contributed to the bowling load, including Jobe (0/2) and Harvey (1/7) off two overs, and Hunter (0/17) and Will (1/18) off four overs. The hard work and positive attitude finally paid off, with Angad (2/9) knocking over the Wests’ best batter and the win going to the Royals.

A hard fought win against a quality opponent, building confidence for the rest of the season. The team is looking forward to our first T20 game on Tuesday.
