Message from new Club President, Scott Foley

Updated: May 12

To the Marist Cricket Club Community,

Our Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday the 6th of May. Well done to everyone who attended the AGM — it was fantastic to see such a strong turnout and level of engagement across the Club.

I am honoured to have been appointed as President and look forward to working closely with the Committee and broader Club community in the season ahead.

Last season’s success — with 34 teams taking the field, over 100 volunteers supporting the Club, and recognition as ACT Junior Club Champions — is a direct reflection of the strength of our volunteer base. Our volunteers are the backbone of MCCCC, giving their time week in, week out to coach, manage, organise and support our players. That collective effort not only drives performance, but more importantly builds the culture, community and experience that defines our Club.

I offer my thanks to all those who have remained in their committee roles and continue to contribute to MCCCC. Equally, a very heartfelt thank you to those who are stepping down from positions. Your contribution over the past season — and in many cases over several seasons — has been significant, and the Club is stronger because of your commitment and effort.  As I mentioned on the night, continuity for a committee is a great thing, and we have that at all levels of the committee. Here is a summary of where we landed on the night or roles we have confirmed since:

2026/27 Committee

President - Scott Foley

Vice President - Phil Marchant

Treasurer - Andrew Guile

Secretary - Chris Duffy

Registrar - Penny Scholtens

Junior Cricket Committee Delegates - Phil Marchant and Emmanual Louis

Equipment Manager - Emmanual Louis

First Aid Manager – Gemma McRae (post AGM appointment)

Facilities Manager - Andy Rees (post AGM appointment)

Sponsorship Manager – Vacant: Assistant: Kellie Ayres

ICT Coordinator - Vacant

Social Media Coordinator - Vacant

Communications Manager - WhatsApp Coordinator - Kellie Ayres

Information Manager - Yearbook / End of Season Coordinator - Wayne Cassidy

Stage 1 Coordinator - Liam Casey

Stage 2 Coordinator - Lisa Johnston

Stage 3 Coordinator - Lauren Morrison

Colts Coordinator - Murray McRae

General Committee Members - Stacey Peios; Michael Gunn; Alan Reid; Gary Goodman.

One change / addition I have made, I have asked Kellie Ayres to take on a Communication Lead role. Thus, she is listed now as also ‘Communications Manager’. We have 3-4 people involved in comms and it is good to have one member leading this important club function.  So Kell has agreed to look after that for us.

I am awaiting finalisation on the vacancies identified above. Once finalised, I will advise again what roles we still have open for the coming season.

As we look ahead, I wanted to briefly highlight a few key priorities for the season:

  • Continue building a strong inclusive culture focused on participation and player retention, as well as putting our community and volunteers at the centre of everything we do.

  • Develop a clear facilities investment plan, including Oval 3, nets, and ongoing improvements to Club infrastructure/ facilities.

  • Maintain and strengthen our relationship with Cricket ACT, including Colts competition and pathway development

  • Drive fundraising initiatives to support long-term facilities and Club sustainability

  • Improve transparency and structure in Colts cricket, including coaching, selection and training process considerations

There is a strong foundation in place, and I look forward to working with all of you to build on that momentum.

Thank you again for your support and commitment to the Club.

Kind regards,Scott Foley
